The United States Air Force activated its first fighter squadron, No. 1 Fighter Squadron at Hamilton Municipal Airport on October 12, 1942. This squadron was part of Ninth Air Force which served under General Dwight Eisenhower during World War II. The squadron operated P-40 Warhawks until 1945 when it transitioned to F-4 Phantom Jets; however, no missions were ever flown with the jet planes during World War II. Aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin began producing airplanes in Hamilton in 1948; this company became McDonnell Douglas after Lockheed merged with Marietta Corporation in 1978. McDonnell Douglas produced some famous aircraft such as the Boeing 747LM and Airbus A380 passenger jets; these planes are used today all over the world including many airports across North America and Europe where they are regularly leased or sold to airlines

The city was founded by George Washington Hamilton and named after him. In 1814, John Davenport laid out the town on land that he purchased from the Canandaigua Indian Nation and named it for his father-in-law, James Kieft. The first settler in what would become Hamilton was Major General Israel Putnam who arrived in 1795 from Massachusetts with his family to plat a town on high ground between Beaverdam Creek and Scioto River. He named it Newtown because of his home's location near Newtown Square inBoston. However, Putnam's heirs sold the town to Colonel Christopher Gist in 1800 for $6,000 cash and title to underlying land promising future development which never materialized due to lack of interest or funding from Gist or others interested in founding a community there. In 1814, John Davenport laid out the town on land that he purchased from the Canandaigua Indian Nation and named it for his father-in-law, James Kieft. By this time there were over 100 people living in what would become Hamilton including many mechanics and farmers who had come west during the American Civil War as refugees or soldiers seeking refuge. After surveying much of central Ohio they decided upon an angular square off center block plan with two stories each called "The Square". This plan became known as "The Square", which still stands today as one of the most recognizable features of Hamilton skyline today. It was not until 1830 when he added a third story (known as The Annex) to provide more housing then what existed at that time within The Square so that citizens could buy more space inside their own homes rather than sharing space with other residents who also lived within blocks of one another outside of their homes' walls without any means to share food or water supplies together outside those limited options either through shared gardens or open fields accessible only by footpaths leading directly into those same expansesoutside Burr Ridge Cemetery where corpses lay unclaimed until recently! This type of sectarianismHostile Neighbors relationship survive up until present day as well even reaching levels beyond simply verbal abuse now considered normal daily exchange between individuals based on perceived differences rather then actual functional relationships built upon common interests & values across cultures!
