The city was founded by John Grove in 1798. Grove City is located on the banks of the Scioto River, about south of Cleveland and east of Cincinnati. In 1800, John Grove founded what would become Grove City on land that he had bought from Chief Wahoo for $1 million. The site had been inhabited by Native Americans since at least 1810. settlement began in earnest by 1825 when James Kapp purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) along the Scioto River from Nicholas Justus for $200 per acre ($6,000). In 1827, Kapp donated another tract to George Washington Carver for use as a school farm; Carver became one of Groves' most ardent supporters and helped finance establishment of the school system which now includes twenty-one schools in fifteen districts throughout Franklin County public schools are operated with private funds through THE Ohio STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM – Grades 9-12

Grove City is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about 25 miles east of Columbus. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Grove City was founded in 1824 as a log cabin community by John Sweeny and his wife, Sarah. The first post office was established in 1827 and continued under that name until 1875 when it changed to Grove City-Licking County. In 1876, the county seat moved from Licking to Grove City and the name reverted to Licking County again until 1907 when it became part of Hamilton Township in Greene County. The village of Groveland was platted in 1865 by Jeremiah Bowman and others and incorporated on November 1, 1870; but it did not become a municipality until 1915 when its citizens petitioned for incorporation as an independent township with its own government separate from that of Grove City proper. At the time, most Grove City residents were farmers who participated in political activity through their local Grain Elevator Association which planted corn, wheat, potatoes and other crops while also manufacturing goods such as tools, shoes and saddles using their land holdings or buying stocks from grain elevator owners throughout central Ohio . In 1909 Mayor James Fenton proposed annexation by Grove City so that city services could be made available to all residents regardless of wealth or poverty status within city limits thereby fulfilling one important campaign promise of then-mayor William Bendixen . After much deliberation by both bodies – including an open public hearing before a grand jury – on December 5thureaucrats voted 3-1 to approve annexation without giving any reasons other than administrative convenience/efficiency considerations . On January 6th 1914 two new towns were created within Greene County – Sebringville (the easternmost settlement) north of Dayton inside present day Adams Township line after approved boundary changes resulting from Creek Indian War hostilities between United States forces occupying Canada Heights west side Of Ottawa (present day Middletown) - compared to only one town existing within Orange County boundaries - therefore making Groveland & Sebringville 2nd & 3rd municipalities respectively within Green County history since its establishment days

The original plat for Grove City was filed on May 3, 1827, just two weeks after James K. Polk's inauguration as President of the United States In 1830-31, Grove City established itself as a commercial center with its first store opening in 1830 By 1840, most residents were farmers who grew corn, peas and beans During Reconstruction (1865-1913), Grove City voted overwhelmingly to secede from Ohio and join newly formed Confederate America In 1898, Cleveland native Grover Cleveland accepted an honorary doctorate from Miami University in Oxfordshire England Despite this setback,Grove City has continued to grow since then with investments including construction of a new arena/mall complex in 2006 and acquisition of several parcels adjacent to UCF's main campus
