Green, Ohio is a city in the United States located in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. The population was 21,675 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson Combined Statistical Area. The city is named after American painter Ansel Adams and his wife Edith Wharton, who were both based in New York City when they made theirocations there in 1924 and 1927. The first permanent settler in what is now Green, Ohio was Captain John Sellers, who moved from Connecticut to be near new water sources on the Maumee River in 1797. In 1801, he founded what became known as Sellersville on land that he had purchased from the Wyandotte Indian tribe. From this location, Captain John sold goods to traders travelling through or passing through Michigan and other parts of America during the early 1800s. By 1830, Green had developed into a small town with three blocks of streets and around 30 dwellings. In 1836, General James Ketcham arrived at Fort Wayne with a detachment of troops to explore new territory across Lake Erie before moving on to open up Indiana Territory for settlers. Heading northward along the Upper Peninsula of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula following his reconnaissance mission (the first military action involving Native Americans), Ketcham discovered an area rich in natural resources but also sparsely populated by people due to lack of interest from British colonists living farther south on that peninsula. After some consideration about whether or not to establish a colony here – given its potential for success – Ketcham ordered his men off the peninsula without further exploration and returned home instead having explored much more territory than he ever would have found if he had stayed put. In 1840–41 alone, JK erected twenty-four buildings inside present day Green; however only one block east of where it stands still remains an active commercial center today called Market Square which began as an outdoor market stand operated by local farmers starting around 1845 until electric lights became available within green limits in 1925; prior thereto it was just an open air market run by merchants looking to bring trade into town square at night time The town square served as a gathering point for residents during religious services held at different churches back then as well as for general social events like dances and funerals - something that still happens today outside Market Square between 7pm-1am
