After World War II, when there wasn’t as much activity on the riverbanks, The RCS Gift Shop closed its doors in 1951. However, it reopened in 1966 after being bought by a group of local businessmen who turned it into an outlet for local crafts and products. The Coast Guard also provides services such as search and rescue, maritime security, coastal defense, environmental protection, and planning and coordination for state and local government agencies. The Coast Guard was formed on December 8, 1898 by an act of Congress. At its inception, the Coast Guard had three primary missions: providing physical protection for coastlines against piracy and other illegal activities; enforcing navigational regulations; and maintaining communications between coastal communities and inland naval forces. It wasn't until 1915 that a gift shop was established within the Coast Guard's headquarters in New York City. The first gifts given by individuals to the Coast Guard were medals and badges. In 1923, an air station was located in Green Bay, Wisconsin and gift shops were opened there as well. Marines who served aboard ships during World War II received their own individual store at Weisbaden Barracks in Germany where they could purchase items such as uniforms and insignia from local sailors and marines. After World War II ended, individual gifts became less common and instead donations were made to various charities or foundation's which then gave back money to the Coast Guard through galas or fund raisers. Today, the Coast Guard has its own website which allows members to upload photos of themselves giving gifts to our service members around the world!
Green, Ohio is a small town in the state of Ohio. It is located in the Sandusky County seat of Mansfield. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,594. The name "Green" comes from the Iroquois word hreh (green) and naght (land). The first settlement in what is now Green was made by two families from Pennsylvania on July 4, 1788. The community's history began with a sawmill that was started in 1801 by John Dickey and others. In 1834, Green became one of 23 townships formed into Trumbull County. A cotton gin was built in 1849 by James Eichelberger and manned until 1925 by his son-in-law John Paine Jr. In 1861, Green became part of Union Township when Trumbull County was divided into three sections to be used for voting purposes. In 1905, Green's post office moved to its present location where it still operates today. One of the early businesses in Green was an insurance company which closed its doors in 1930 due to financial difficulties caused by World War I; however, during that time there were also several grocery stores, two banks and numerous small businesses established before this most recent closure occurred some years ago: First National Bank #2 & Third National Bank #1 make up most of today’s business district."

It was reincorporated as a village in 1907. The Village of Green is located near the center of Lorain County. It has two square miles (5 km²) of land and a population of 711 as of the 2010 census. The Village limits include part of the city of Cleveland to the north and east, and Lakewood to the south and west. The Village is bounded by State Route 405 on its southwest side, State Route 216 on its northeast side, Ashtabula Creek on its southeast side, and I-75 on its northwest side. According to the US Census Bureau, Green has a total area of , all land. As of the census[1] of 2000,[2] there were 1,969 people residing in Green Township: 912 men (40 percent), 554 women (30 percent), and 126 children under age 18 (9 percent).
