Green, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 37,521 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Stark County and part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Green became a city on December 12, 1837, when it was split from Athens Township. The original boundaries were: east side of Hamilton Street (now west side of Third Street), north side of Fairfield Avenue (now south side of Third Street), and west side of Elmira Road (now east side of Elmira Road). The name "Green" comes from the fact that there are more trees in central Green than in any other place in town. Most people attribute this to being close to Lake Erie and its many resources including sandbars, fresh water sources, and high concentrations of iron ore. The first settlers were farmers who raised corn and beans while looking for a better location to settle down and farm because they could not find suitable land closer to Lake Erie or the Great Lakes region at that time. In 1837, Green became a city when it was split off from Athens Township and annexed by Cincinnati proper; however, at that time only 2% or so of the population lived within city limits due to lack access to transportation or other amenities available then such as schools/the military which made living within city limits very difficult for most residents wishing to do anything other than work on their farmssteads or look for employment opportunities outside their home communities; today those circumstances have completely changed with over 60% residents residing within City Limits through commuting options! In 1870-71 voters in Hancock County passed an ordinance calling for a new political subdivision called Cleveland Township with boundaries corresponding roughly where present day Main Street meets Bloomfield Road; though no effort was ever made by either party subsequent thereto nor has been since 1870-71 to change these approximate boundaries! This ordinance accomplished what no governmental body had ever done before—it allowed citizens within township borders – some who had long wished they could move closer – finally having their say about where they wanted their town situated! With this new opportunity came increased development hopes as business owners saw an increase in tax revenue generated by businesses located within township borders instead of paying taxes out-of-town where services like education were offered far beyond township borders; something that residents had always desired but never received! Today’s downtown district contains over 120 buildings dating back to 1830 reflecting growth rates similar throughout America during those years just beyond what can be seen on average anywhere else in our great country! Additionally one cannot help but notice how much green space exists herein surrounded by dense housing developments yet remaining open public areas providing natural light into night while also hosting numerous cultural events year round!

Green, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,644. The name "Green" comes from the fertile earth that makes up much of its landscape, which has been cultivated for hundreds of years. In 1800, James Hennepin led an expedition to explore what is now Cincinnati and named it after his hometown in Scotland - Greenock on Loch Lomond - where he had been born some years earlier. The first settler in what is now Green was Andrew Johnson who arrived in 1792 during the peak of British colonization in North America. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Little Miami River and named it Johnsonville after his home countryman James Johnston (1747-1811). The townsite at present-day Green was platted by George Rogers Clark while he was exploring near modern day Cincinnati in 1801 as part of a land grant to him from President Thomas Jefferson. When Clark reached eastern Kentucky he discovered rich coal seams there and decided to build a permanent settlement around them rather than wander about aimlessly searching for new landholdingsempty since Jefferson's Declaration of Independence had abolished all Indian slavery within bounds thereby freeing all Native Americans living east of Lake Erie for white settlers to purchase their lands at whatever price they deemed appropriate at that time. Territorial boundaries were not finalized until 1814 when Congress created Mercer County with Dayton as its capital and included Green within its limits as well as parts of today's Lawrence County and Ross County along with several towns including Oxford, Mayfield Heights, Mount Vernon and New Lebanon just south of downtown Cincinnati Proper. Green Township was organized in 1837, the year before Ohio became a state. Green is home to several important sites in Ohio history, including the now-demolished old schoolhouse and cemetery. The first store in Green Township was built by George Witherspoon in 1837.
