The first coffee beans were roasted on a small scale in Girard, Ohio in 1905. The first roasting place was located on the east side of town and it operated for about a year. Coffee was roasted by two men, John and Harry McNaught.

Girard is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. It was once the home of Girard College. The population was 3,819 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Girard were French explorers and missionaries in the early eighteenth century. In 1794, George Washington journeyed through Butler County on his way to Mount Vernon. He stopped at Girard for lunch on his way west. A plaque still stands near the courthouse in Girard commemorating this event. In 1810, Adam Smith founded a school in what is now Girard Township. In 1814, he donated land to build a college there which would become the University of Findlay (later Findlay Community College). The first classes were held in October of that year. In 1865, John Fenton built a home on land given him by Smith at its junction with Old Girarde Road. This house served as the town hall from 1888 until it was destroyed by fire in 1990. 2 other homes also stood here before being destroyed by fire: one dating back to 1879 and another from 1913-15 which are now preserved as part of the Village Green Historic District .

Girard is a small town in the northwestern part of Ohio, United States. It is located on the Scioto River, east of Dayton and west of Painesville. The Girard post office opened in 1827, and was discontinued in 1915. Girard has a population of just over 100 people as of 2010. The Girard community started as a small settlement on the Scioto River near what is now Dayton. The first settler was John Purdy, who arrived with his family in 1811 from Maryland. In 1827, Girard's first postmaster named Hiram Aiken established the Post Office here. As more residents moved into the area, church building and other needs grew to meet them. By 1840, there were six homes in Girard – three for residents and three for visitors – and twelve businesses including two stores and four taverns catering to travelers passing through on their way to or from Cincinnati or Dayton. In 1875, when Akron became an incorporated city, it annexed parts of Girard Township which totaled 5 square miles (13 km2). This annexation made Girard one of only two towns within Akron limits that did not join forces with its neighbor Riverside during annexation proceedings; other towns within Akron boundaries joined together during this time period. A fire destroyed most of the buildings in downtown Girardeon on November 6th 1905 while citizens were shopping for groceries after Thanksgiving Day Dinner; fortunately all but two homes survived unharmed thanks to donations by local businesses such as J&R Hardware Company and Gartenstein’s department store (now Tanger Outlet). The community quickly rebuilt following this tragedy which left some structure demolition still ongoing as early as 1907-08 season! Since then much progress has been made both physically & culturally within our village reminiscing about those memories daily we have many festivals going on like Pumpkinfest Parade at October 26th followed by Oktoberfest celebration at December 10th Aktion der Kulturen für das Jahr 2018

Girard was founded in 1795 by Captain John Girard and his family. The town grew rapidly after settlers arrived, and in 1814 it became a city. In 1829, Girard attained statehood; in 1912, the city developed into a metropolitan area with a population of over 200,000 people.
