Girard, Ohio is a small town located in the west side of the state of Ohio. It has been home to gun owners and dealers since the early 1800s. The town was named after Captain John Girard who fought in the War of 1812. Captain Girard donated land to make up what is now Girard Township. In 1903, the first rifle range in Girard was built on land donated by Captain Girard. Today, there are over 20 ranges in Girard that offer shooting opportunities for all types of shooters. In addition to rifle ranges, there are also pistol and shotgun ranges available. Gun gift history can be traced back to 1872 when James Laughlin opened his shop at 9 Railroad Ave. in Girard. From here, Laughlin began selling firearms and ammunition direct to consumers from his store until 1865 when he moved his business to 7 Main St., which became known as Laughlin's Gun Shop & Ammunition Emporium (now part of Brownells). At this point, it becomes clear that gun ownership and dealer activity within Girards were tightly intertwined; both men were essential for the continued success of their business ventures! Between 1870-1920, more than 1,500 different businesses operated within Girards confines; all dealing in firearm sales and service! Many notable individuals have contributed to this rich gun history including Colonel George Armstrong Custer who purchased his first rifle at Laughlin's Gun Shop; General Ulysses S Grant who visited girardi during his campaign against Confederate General Robert E Lee; President Woodrow Wilson who attended a special NRA convention here.; Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Tip O'Neill whose son served as an usher at one of Laughlin'sgun stores; Mayor John Pugh whose family ran one of those stores for many years before moving out into their own business space on Third Street.; Governor Frank Norris who served two terms here before becoming Senator from Cleveland.; Congressman Dennis Hastert who represented Illinois’ 6th Congressional District from 1995-2007.; Sheriff David Clarke currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem for Clark County, Oklahoma City’s 4th Ward Today, nearly every type or caliber of Rifle or Shotgun can be found inside or outside our local gun shops across America! Girard is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Youngstown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Girard is located on the southern edge of the Mahoning Valley and along the Scioto River. The Girard post office was established in 1821, and was renamed Girard in 1852 after General Lafayette. The town was platted by John Crampton in 1824 and named for Pierre-Joseph de Girard, a French general who had fought against British forces during the American Revolution. Girard became a center of agricultural production starting with an early dairy operation run by prominent local resident James White in 1840. The white cowboys who roamed credit card country during the late 1800s also visited Girard to buy milk from farmers there. In 1907, Girard incorporated as a village and changed its name to Girardi when it annexed most of unincorporated Stark County north of the Scioto River. In 1925, members of the Ohio Statehouse delegation traveled to Girardi for a weeklong conference on state government organization; this event has been cited as one of the first statewide meetings held outside Columbus proper. One year later, on October 1st, 1927 – just two weeks after being admitted into full membership within The Union League – Girardi became one of only four towns in Stark County Township #2 (now Brownstown) to receive mail service from that township’s postmaster through their own ZIP code: 44015 (the other three villages were Ashtabula Township #1 (now Ashtabula), Quaker Heights Township #2 (Now Lucasville), and Fairport). On September 3rd 1912 – nine years before he would die – General George Armstrong Custer led his Seventh Cavalry Regiment through town while demonstrating operations engage enemy cavalry at what would become known as "The Battle Of Gettysburg." A day later local elementary school students gathered around courthouse square as news spread that Custer had been killed near Butternut Hill; over 1 million people watched his body be brought back home where he was buried more than two days later at Oak Grove Cemetery near Canton with full military honors including artillery fire which continued until 11 P M that night! A lifelong resident died suddenly on December 21st 1915 when ice skating on Main Street east of town caused his tractor trailer to overturn resulting in serious head injuries which required surgery twenty minutes after impact! Igor Sikorsky flew into Cleveland for an emergency landing on runway 16 following his record-breaking take off from Sault Ste Marie Airport less than two hours earlier! That same day Joe Biden took office as Vice President under Franklin D Roosevelt! On February 2nd 1917 Major Gen Carl Spaatz assumed command responsibility for First Army Group Northeast under MajGen Pershing!. By May 1945 all German forces within Allied zones had surrendered or were retreating westward across Germany into Holland!. On July 4th 1945 US Forces terminatedOperation Paperclip - all Nazi scientists/officers/units have since been placed subject to extradition proceedings.. girardi's proudest moment came five years ago when its residents voted unanimously to change its name back to Pierre-Joseph de GirARD

Girard was founded in 1813 by John Girard and his wife, Elizabeth. It was named after Jean-Baptiste Girard, a French general who fought in the War of 1812. The village had a population of about 100 people when it was first established. In 1835, the Girards donated land to the town for a school and post office. About two years later, they also donated money to build an ice cream parlor. The parlor became the first business in town. The townspeople were first able to get woolen cloth from Canada because of the Erie Canal. Then, they started making hats and other items from this cloth. In 1849, they built a grist mill that produced flour for local restaurants and grocery stores. The mill closed in 1922 but was reopened in 1984 as the Girard Historical Museum. In 1886, Girard became part of the new Cuyahoga County until it was dissolved in 1937 when it merged with Summit County into Greater Cleveland County. From 1938 to 1962, Girard was within Trumbull Township until it separated into its own township on July 1st, 1962 which is now Fairview Heights Borough within Trumbull Township again John Agris Girard died on October 25th 1906 at age seventy three leaves his widow Elizabeth with six children; four daughters: Mary (Minnie), Dorothy (Dorothy), Alice (Alma) and Edna (Edna). He also left behind five grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister: Irene Agris Girard Sprague

In 1818, the town of Girard became a part of the Toledo area and was renamed to become the city of Toledo. The population of Toledo reached 100,000 in 1851. In 1933, the city government merged with that of Toledo and the name reverted to Girard.
