In fact, there is even a café located in Lima called Fresh Roasted Coffee that sells roasted coffee straight to your door! The popularity of fresh roasted coffee has led to some amazing innovations over the years. For example, commercial roasters now use whole bean ground coffees instead of processed blends to give their customers a richer flavor profile. Additionally, they also roast different types of beans for different purposes such as dark roast for espresso shots or light roast for drip brewing applications. The first coffee beans were roasted in an old farmhouse on the Girard Heights neighborhood of Cincinnati. Today, Girard Coffee Roasters is one of the largest roasting companies in the United States with more than 40 locations across Ohio and Kentucky.
Girard, Ohio is a small town in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. Girard is located on the eastern edge of Lorain County and is bordered by the cities of Youngstown and Reserve. It lies within the Parma-Westlake-Lorain School District. The first European settlers in Girard were Levi Richardson and his wife Sarah Richardson who came from Nottinghamshire, England in 1814. They arrived with their three children and built a log cabin on land that was donated to them by Simon Cameron. Girard's first school was established in 1818 when David Hutton opened a schoolhouse on Main Street. In 1821, Reverend Johnathan Brown opened a church here which served as the town's first courthouse until it burned down in 1827. In 1836, Andrew Ware moved to Girard from Butler County and started an agricultural business which he named "Ware & Co." One of Ware's sons, Lemuel Crouse Ware (1837-1920), became one of Girard's most successful farmers and ranchers during this time period. He introduced new varieties of corn, wheat, soybeans and other crops to the area which helped make Girard one of the leading farming communities in Ohio during this time frame In 1902, Benjamin Fenton purchased 2 acres (0 km²) east of what is now Girard High School from Lemuel Crouse Ware for $10 dollars . From this land he began construction of what would become Fenton Hall which still stands today as one of the most popular tourist attractions in town In 1916, Frantz Lefebvre married Rosa Parks granddaughter Alice Boynton here at home while she attended college at Tuskegee Institute; they would move to Montgomery County two years later to start their own farm there before moving back home to help run Girard's schools after Rosa’s death in 1955 In 1961, Frantz Lefebvre designated part of his property adjacent to his old farm house into an Agricultural Research Center (ARC) dedicated to helping local farmers improve their crops through research . The center has been operated by Middlebury College since 1966 . Today ARC features research gardens including a vegetable garden with 6 acres (2 km²) worth of plants/trees/herbs/,dugouts for storage or analysis purposes.,and an orchard with over 50 trees/shrubs/. The Center also offers classes such as: agronomy; crop production; soil science; forestry technologies; horticulture; dairy science ; landscaping design
