On November 8, 1911, Garfield Heights residents voted to establish the national guard. The first unit of the Garfield Heights National Guard was organized on December 15, 1911. From that day until World War II, the Garfield Heights National Guard served as a reserve force for the Ohio National Guard. As part of the federal government's response toWorld WarI,President Woodrow Wilson established an army and navy in December 1912. To meet this need, President Wilson authorized Congress to create a national guard corps composed of soldiers from all fifty U.S. states plus Washington D.C.. On February 12, 1913, Congress passed legislation establishing the Garfield Heights National Guardsmen as a separate branch of the Ohio National Guard and providing for their organization into regiments under commandant generals with headquarters in Cleveland. The first regiment assigned to duty in Cleveland was Company C (2nd Battalion) 2nd Infantry Regiment based at Euclid Park Armory and manned by men from Stark County while Company A (1st Battalion) 1st Infantry Regiment headquartered at 216 East Third Street manned by men from Lake County and other parts of Ohio were organized soon after but not deployed until November 1914 when World War I began In 1915-1916 there were changes in commandant general including reassignment of companies andalion commanders due to war efforts; however company strength remained about same throughout period Company C (2nd Battalion) 2nd Infantry Regiment which had been stationed at Euclid Park Armory became Camp Sherman when it moved across city line to become part of 5th Brigade Training Command located at Greenlawn Arsenal near University Circle which also included veteran infantry units Headquarters Band played concerts for troops during training exercises .

Garfield Heights is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. Garfield Heights is located in central Stark County on the southern edge of the city of Akron, and it includes most of ZIP Code 44115. The community was named for General Garfield, who served as president from 1881 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893. The area around which Garfield Heights grew up was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. In 1795, a group ofMiamis led by Captain John Fitch took possession of land that would later become Garfield Heights. Fitchnamed his new settlement after former President George Washington, who had recently come to America and beenelected as a member of Congress for Ohio's 3rd District (the present-day Cleveland metropolitan area). Fitch's settlers were greeted with hostility by local Native Americans because they were considered foreigners without proper tribal status. But over time, the Miamis began to accept their visitors and started trading with them; eventually they became friendly enough that Fitch granted them permission to build homes and live off their land. In 1819, John Young founded a school in what is now Garfield Heights; he believed that education could help improve relations between Indians and whites on Indian territory east of Lake Erie. Young offered free tuition to any white child who could prove himself academically capable; within one year, almost all students in attendance had achieved this goal. This educational program soon moved out into surrounding rural areas where similar efforts were being made to provide education for black children as well – an endeavor known as "Black Hawk Week" during this period because Black Hawk Battlefields lay just outside town limits on both sides of I-275 (now US 22). By 1830, there were three schools operational in Garfield Heights: One supervised by Young himself and two run by his friend Ebenezer Richardson (later elected Mayor of Cleveland). Eagerto Continued Improvement Movement founder Andrew Jackson then purchased some property adjacent to Young's school lot – including what would become today's home plateaus –and offered his own donation toward constructionof public buildings such as libraries or churches among other initiatives meantto promote racial harmony across different groups living near Wayne County boundary lines at that time
The National Guard has been a part of the United States government since 1792. The first national guard unit was created in New York City on May 14, 1792 as the Second Continental Regiment. Since its inception, the National Guard has played an important role in American history. It has been called “the best and brightest” of America’s military forces and has served in many wars including World War II, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War. Today, there are over 1 million active duty members of the National Guard in all 50 states. They play an important role in our society by providing security for our communities and guarding federal property. In addition to their military duties, they also provide service at local community events and parades throughout America. One of the most significant moments associated with the National Guard is its induction into service during World War II. On December 8, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered all branches of government to activate the National Guard as a way to help protect Americans from potential war threats. The 2nd New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment became one of 131 units activated by Roosevelt that day. Over 4500 men from across America joined this regiment during World War II and helped make America great again!

Garfield Heights is an unincorporated community in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,929 at the 2010 census. It is located on the south side of the Muskingum River just east of its confluence with the Sandusky Bayou. Garfield Heights was founded in 1822 by farmers from upstate New York who arrived in what is now Muskingum County after their wagon train was derailed near this location. The first post office opened in 1824 and remained open until it closed in 1902. The town became a center for cotton production during the 1840s and 1850s when land along the bayou were taken up for plantations. By 1860, Garfield Heights had a population of 584 people and had become a mill town producing goods such as cloth and shoe leather. In 1868, Garfield Heights became part of the newly formed city of Sandusky which grew rapidly thanks to its portability and access to markets on the Great Lakes region. However, due to various factors including heavy industry moving into nearby cities during this time period, Garfield Heights lost its status as an important cotton town by 1870. By 1900, however, it had regained some of its former prominence as a small manufacturing town with a population of 602 people. During World War II, many local businesses produced munitions using plants located outside of town; these plants also employed many locals during wartime military service although they did not share in government benefits enjoyed by civilians). In 2000–2001 changes took place within Muskingum County that have had significant impacts on both Garfield Heights and surrounding communities; these changes included county-wide restructuring which eliminated most employment options within municipalities while also creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs within larger counties across Ohio via cooperative agreements between county governments and business districts; these agreements have helped create new jobs throughout much of central Ohio since 2001 even as unemployment rates continue to rise statewide (see: " implications of county-wide restructuring in Ohio"). Garfield Heights is a city in the Ohio Valley, located in southern Butler County. The population was 20,552 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butler County and home to the Garfield Heights Municipal Airport. The area that now includes Garfield Heights was settled by British colonists in 1788. The first post office in the community was established in 1803. A fire destroyed much of downtown on July 4, 1868, which led to an increased focus on rebuilding and spurring development around what would become Garfield Heights. In 1925, a new high school opened as part of a larger educational complex called Parkland College-Garfield Heights Campus. In 1990, Cleveland-based FirstEnergy announced it would build a power plant adjacent to ParklandCollege-Garfield Heights Campus. The plant resulted in protests from local residents who felt their neighborhoods were being sacrifice for energy production alone
