The town of Gahanna was platted in 1824, and it became a national post office on November 2, 1830. In 1837, Gahanna became an independent city with its own mayor and council. It annexed nearby townships in 1840-41 to form what is now Muskingum County. In 1888-89, Gahanna built its first electric streetlights and incorporation as a city made it one of the first American cities to do so. Gahannas economy has been based largely on heavy industry such as manufacturing and agriculture since World War II; however, recent years have seen increased emphasis on research institutions and services that are located within or near downtown Gahanna limits such as Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Aspinwall Health Sciences Center (AHS), Butler University (BU), Parma College (POMC) and other colleges/universities adjacent to downtown areas like Middletown Boulevard NE and State Street NW which support businesses that are engaged in health care services, professional sports teams including Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball player LeBron James's father Joe James' business empire chain Jimmy John's sandwich company restaurants among others

Gahanna, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Hamilton County. The population was 21,869 at the 2010 census. Gahanna is located on the Scioto River in central Stark County and is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH metropolitan area. It was founded by English colonists in 1788 as Ganica Township under the name of Clairvaux Township. The first settler in what would become Gahanna was James Caldwell, who arrived in 1788 from Yorkston, England with his family. In 1802, he and his wife built a cabin on present-day High Street near where State Route 82 crosses over the Scioto River. In 1805 they entered into a land grant with Nathaniel Lyon for $200/acre (1 km²). They named their new town after General George Washington and its location – off the road between Cincinnati and Akron – made it convenient for military service purposes during American War One (1812-1815). In 1827 Gahanna had a population of 400 people; by 1830 it had increased to 1,500 people and by 1840 it had reached 3,000 people. Gahanna experienced rapid growth during Reconstruction following America's Civil Rights Movement beginning in 1865 and reaching full swing by 1870 when African American men were finally able to vote in local elections without fear of discrimination or violence from white supremacists or Ku Klux Klan members operating out of eastern Ohio towns such as Youngstown and Sandusky while other states remained largely segregated until well into the 20th century. By 1920 there were 10 blacksmiths working for local businesses alone while only 2% of Gahanna's workforce consisted of African Americans overall accounting for just 8% percent total employment within city limits during that time period according to The Ohio History Review (1982). This trend slowly reversed over time as white flight began to occur throughout much of northeastern Ohio resulting primarily from economic stagnation brought about by World War II followed by recession which impacted all segments including African American households across various sectors leading many former slaves/workers to relocate outside urban areas throughout Northeast Ohio becoming known collectively as "The Black Belt". Gahanna experienced significant demographic change during this era with an influx of Italian Americans who migrated directly from their home country following Mussolini’s rise to power in Italy through Operation Husky which led to mass deportations across North America including large numbers ending up living within Gahanna itself eventually creating an increasingly diverse community characterized more accurately today as "Italian enclaves" rather than simply "Italian communities" within traditional metropolitan areas across NortheasternOhio due largely to political correctness considerations instigated more recently following national events like 9/11 involving high levels of aircraft activity at small airports specifically targeting Italian American citizens residing elsewhere within Greater Cleveland - New York City Area having direct access both above ground via runways / airfields leased or owned outright from respective governments allowing terrorist attacks against civilian targets purely based on race rather than intelligent planning & premeditation - effectively resulting in vast swathes( majority inner suburban neighborhoods) bordering downtown Cleveland being heavily Targeted & plundered nightly without any retaliation whatsoever conservative politicians have steadfastly opposed efforts UNESCO has been trying since before 9/11 anniversary public opinion polls have consistently shown overwhelming majorities support among both homeowners & residents for reopening closed airports / larger markets providing desperately needed jobs opportunities not only immediately but also long term around [the] clock despite numerous promises made by previously elected officials short sighted decisions like this one will continue costly consequences such as: loss OF approximately 300+ jobs over next 5 years due mostly To current FAA restrictions on large commercial aviation activities at small airports impacting job security 1000+ additional jobs could be lost because mothballing existing infrastructure can no longer accommodate +600MW electric generating capacity currently proposed for use at formerly closed stadiums etc... Gahanna, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Muskingum County. The population was 740 at the 2010 census, up from 573 in 2000. Gahanna is located on the southern border of Muskingum County and is bordered by Warren County to the east, Licking County to the south, and Sandusky County to the west. The first permanent settler in Gahanna was James Sibley who built a cabin on what is now Main Street in 1820. Gahanna was founded as a town by commissioners appointed by General David Ziegler on November 14, 1825, following his victory over Native Americans at Inkster Creek Bridge during the Battle of Miamisburg. The town grew rapidly and reached its peak population of 2,500 in 1830. However, because of cheap labor available from surrounding farmers for manufacturing goods such as cloth and shoes, Gahanna declined after 1830 and slowly shrunk until it had only 100 residents by 1870. In that year, Ziegler withdrew his commission from the town's commissioners and ordered them to disband due to their lack of success in promoting growth within their boundaries. Gahanna regained its status as a town when it became part of Muskingum Township on February 17, 1871; however it lost its full-time status as an independent municipality when it merged with Warren Township on December 1 that year; also effective that date were all but two streetlights in Gahanna proper – one light near West Market Street (now University Avenue) and one light near South Third Street (now Greene Avenue). On November 3rd 1888 an act was passed providing for incorporation of villages within Muskingun township: Athens (northwest corner), Canfield (southwest corner), Euclid (east side), Greenfield (northwest corner), Jenison (southwest corner), Lancaster (northwest corner), Lima (east side), Nilesville(southwest corner) Plymouth Heights (northeast side).
