Franklin, Ohio is home to one of the world's first small batch coffee businesses. In 1907, a man by the name of John Holmquist founded the company that would become Holmquist Coffee. The company started out making coffee for his own use and began selling it in local stores. In 1922, Holmquist Coffee moved its operations to what is now the Franklin Armory complex on Sayre Street in downtown Franklin. In 1933, Jesse Holmquist founded JH Coffee & Tea (later JJ Coffee) with himself as the primary owner and CEO. At this time, JJ Coffee was known for its high-quality coffees and even grills which were used by top-level executives and business owners in Columbus, Cleveland and other cities throughout Ohio. During their time at JJ Coffee, Jesse and his son Driscoll formed a close relationship with then President Franklin D Roosevelt who became a regular customer of JJ Coffee's cafes during his presidency. In 1969, David Levy boughtJJ Coffee from Driscoll and changed the name to Levy’s Java House Incorporated (LJHI). From 1969 through 1990, LJHI produced more than 1 million cups of Joe every day from their headquarters located on State Street in downtown Franklin – just steps away from where today’s State Bank building stands! The company was sold again in 2001 to Intelligentsia Brands LLC., but continued operations until 2006 when it ceased all production due to financial troubles. Today there are only a few remnants of LJHI left; some remaining coffee beans are roasted at Intelligentsia's old facility on Broad Ripple Avenue in Indianapolis; while others are still processed at Levy's former location on State Street.
Franklin is a city in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 14,868 at the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1798 by James K. Polk and named for Benjamin Franklin, an American statesman and Founding Father. As of the 2010 census, the racial makeup of Franklin was black or African American (27% of all residents), Hispanic (24% of all residents), white (86% of all residents), or other race (2% of all residents).

Bible scholar and Muslim preacher Rabbi Abraham Isaac Chaim Weingarten (1809-1892) was a leading figure in the development of coffee culture in Israel. He introduced beans to Jerusalem’s Jewish community in 1847, and soon became known as the “father of coffee.” The first cafes near Jerusalem opened up around 1868, and soon there were also cafés throughout Mandatory Palestine. Coffee became an important part of Palestinian cuisine, and many Arabs began to drink it for its unique flavor profile. Cairo’s first café, El Mughrabiyaoel Qazon, opened up in 1872 with French roast beans from La Côte d'Or roasters. Coffee quickly became an important local export commodity, and beginning in the 1920s espresso machines began being exported to Europe and North America. Today, coffee is still enjoyed all over the world – from developing countries like Africa to wealthy countries like Italy and Japan – where its unique flavor persists today despite multiple processing methods.

Franklin, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Perry County. The population was 38,824 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous city in Perry County. Franklin is one of the largest cities in southeastern Ohio and has been called "The Athens of the Midwest." The first settler in what is now Franklin was Nicholas Huyck who built a cabin on the Scioto River in 1795. The city was founded on November 12, 1814 by Major General James K. Polk when he organized a force to expel Native Americans from their land near present-day Cincinnati. Polk named his new settlement for President George Washington, who had died two years earlier during an unsuccessful attack on Yorktown Peninsula during the War for Independence. In 1827, John Cranch became Franklin's first mayor and served until 1830 when he was succeeded by Amos Kendall. During this time, some important changes took place within Franklin including construction of its first public schoolhouse and courthouse which were both completed in 1829. In 1840, Benjamin Rush became Mayor after serving two terms as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives before being elected as Governor of Pennsylvania where he served from 1793 to 1797; he is considered one of America's first political figures. In 1849, General Andrew Jackson moved into downtown Franklin after taking office as President over Lincoln's United States Army at Fort Sumter;Jackson spent much time at City Hall located on North High Street before moving into his presidential palace on West Union Avenue later that year which still stands today known as Jackson Presidential Palace (formerly known as First National Bank Building). He would remain living there until his death over three days later on February 4th 1861 less than 2 months after taking office becoming only the 3rd Ulysses S Grant to die in office (the others being William Howard Taft and Chester Arthur). The building currently houses multiple businesses such as Macy’s Department Store & Old Navy while also housing many offices used by local government entities such as Columbus Area School District #2 and Akron Community Schools district #1 among others throughout its various incarnations including: State Fairgrounds Administration Building – current home to OSU’s Recreation Services Dept., formerly housed State Treasurer’s Office; First National Bank – once home to Ironton Savings Bank & Trust Company; Erlanger Block – former site of Cleveland Municipal Court Annexe prior to its closure in 2009 due to budget cuts affecting municipal court services statewide; today home to several apartments according to occupants - First NationalBank/Macy’s department store annexe currently occupied by apartment complex owned & operated by PNC bank
