The Ohio National Guard was established on November 1, 1908 as a part of the creation of the United States Army in reaction to Spain’s entry into World War I. The Guard was first organized into companies and brigades, but was finally disbanded on December 15, 1916. On October 25, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson issued an executive order creating the National Guard Bureau and authorizing the organization of national guard garrisons in each state. This order also authorized the purchase of firearms for members of the National Guard. On November 3rd, 1917, Congress passed House Resolution 316 which created the Ohio National Guard. The resolution also provided for membership requirements and appropriations for the National Guard Bureau. On February 20th, 1918 Governor John Husted signed Senate Bill 7 which doubled funding for the Ohio National Guardsmen at $20 per month per officer and enlisted man. This bill became law on March 2nd and effective upon passage by both chambers. In 1920 Congress passed Senate Bill 10 which increased funding by $40 per month per officer and enlisted man to $240 per month per officer and enlisted man. This bill became law on March 2nd and effective upon passage by both chambers In 1924 Senate Bill 375 created a two-year enlistment bonus program for officers serving in cavalry units equipped with machineguns or automatic weapons who had volunteered to serve during World War I . This bill became law on September 25th In 1927 House Resolution 597 designated April 6th as “National Guardsmen’s Day†in honor of those members of the Ohio National Guard who had died in service during World War I . On May 4th , 1928 Ohio General Assembly approved Senate Bill 1080 making it a felony to turn over any arms or ammunition to any party not authorized to possess them by state or federal laws

Fostoria, Ohio is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,959 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Scioto River north of Cleveland. Fostoria is the only incorporated community in Muskingum County and has been self-governing since 1853. Fostoria was platted in 1803 by Peter and John Fritsch. The name probably comes from "Forst" (Forest), as it was near a forest that they were familiar with. At first, the settlement consisted of just a few homes and two stores. However, over time, Fostoria grew into an important commercial center on the Scioto River. In 1853, Fostoria became an independent municipality and adopted a constitution inspired by that of Euclid Township in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The economic development of Fostoria has come from its location along the Scioto River; its status as an agricultural center; its role as a transportation hub for local residents and businesses; and its status as a manufacturing center for textiles and plastics products. The town has also played an important role in cultural history with contributions from local artists such as David Stone Martin and James Weldon Johnson. Today, Fostoria remains an important community with strong economic ties to Cleveland and other nearby municipalities

Fostoria is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Fayette County. The population was 4,817 at the 2010 census. Fostoria is located on the west bank of the Scioto River, about 14 miles northwest of Cleveland. The first American settlement in what became Fostoria was made on July 6, 1796, by George Washington and his party as part of their survey for land grants in Ohio. The town site was chosen because it lay where a Native American trading post had been established two years earlier by French traders working for General Harmattan under the name Fort Pitts. Fostoria grew rapidly from its founding until 1812 when Congress passed an act prohibiting slavery in the territory acquired by France during the Louisiana Purchase. In that year, United States citizens John Stevens and James Kapp bought 640 acres (242 ha) east of present-day downtown Fostoria from Indian Chief Tecumseh with intentions to build a public house and store there as a symbol of free trade between America and Great Britain. In 1814, Kapp built a small log cabin near what is now Union Station to serve as headquarters for his new company founded to promote commercial ties between America and Europe along with other interests including education and irrigation systems within limits set by Kapp himself. The building still stands today next to Union Station; it has been used as offices since 1907. On October 16, 1815, representatives from twenty-six different towns meeting at Greenville Creek Presbyterian Church voted unanimously to adopt trusteeship status for Fostoria Township which would allow it full representation in township meetings rather than just hearing motions emanating from individual villages or farms though voting power remained with village trustees until January 1st 1870 when township meetings were moved into common session & then resumed annually after that date subject only to motion review by township board members who were also elected annually). This change not only increased democracy within township government but also opened up many opportunities for economic development due primarily to transportation needs brought about by increasing distance traveled between villages/farms & larger cities like Cleveland & Cincinnati which began opening up their markets since becoming aware of how important rural areas were for supplying northeastern Ohioans with goods they couldn’t produce themselves such as textiles etc.; this trend continued into later years when industry became more centralized around major cities like Dayton (&c.)
