On October 25, 1917, the Cleveland National Guard aircraft detachment, No. 2 Squadron, was mobilized and sent to Forest Park Airport in Ohio to deliver gifts to troops fighting in World War I. The gift history of this air force detachment can be traced back to that day when a group of American servicemen from their home state of Ohio traveled north for an exhilarating experience. They were joined by members of the Royal Air Force, who had volunteered for service in Europe. The men were greeted by military officers and given a tour of the airport before being taken on an inspection flight over downtown Cleveland. After landing at Forest Park Airport, they were treated to refreshments and chatted with local residents before departing for their assigned duty stations. No. 2 Squadron's mission was to provide transport helicopters for paratroopers during combat operations in France and Belgium; however, due to wartime restrictions on aviation resources they did not actually arrive in Europe until after the Armistice had been signed on November 11th 1918. However, the squadron's gift history does not stop there! In addition to providing transportation services for our troops during those crucial early days following World War I; No. 2 Squadron also donated money towards research into new types of aircraft that could help improve warfare during peace time - something which still applies today!

Forest Park is a community in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States, located on the banks of the Olentangy River. The population was 9,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Forest Park were French traders in 1795. In 1802, General George Washington visited and recommended that Cincinnati be founded as an agricultural and military town on land purchased from the Indians by Major William Findlay. This plan failed and Cincinnati was founded instead as a manufacturing center with extensive plantations for textiles and other goods. In 1824, Colonel John Lewis of Cincinnati organized a group of farmers who bought 640 acres (2 km²) northwest of downtown to create what would become Forest Park. Lewis named his community after Philadelphia's forest park district – now known as Woodland Hills – which he had seen while visiting there that year. A post office called Forest Park was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1830, when Surveyor General Nicholas Dundas conducted a survey of centralHamilton County, he noted that much more area could be developed if woodlands were burned to make way for farms than if fields were cleared and drained so that water might be used for irrigation purposes instead of being diverted into canals for local use. This led to the development of Forest Park through burning – although only about one-tenth of all acreage lay within present-day Forest Park limits when it became a city park on April 14, 1889. The original idea behind creating Forest Park may have been to provide an open space near downtown where people could picnic or walk without having their backs hit by cars driving down First Street; however no such spot exists today but rather within City Limits! During World War II many homes were built up around First Street between Mentor Road (now Greenlawn Avenue)and current Daynfordshire Drive due to increased demand during the war because factories munitions manufacturers produced products near Toledo - this street became known as "First Street Outlet" today!

Forest Park was founded in 1836 by Colonel John Tiffin and his wife, Eliza. As a small village, Forest Park had no land of its own and relied on the generosity of its residents for much of its early development. In 1851, Forest Park became part of the newly created Township of Athens-Clarke. The township's first commissioner was Dr. Thomas Gifford, who laid out the town's grid plan in 1855. By 1860, Forest Park had over 100 homes and a population of just under 400. The late 1800s were difficult for many small towns in Ohio as increasing numbers of settlers arrived to populate the region. This migration led to increased competition for limited resources such as land and labor. In response to this situation, Mayor Alfred Dicken parcelized an area north of State Road 235 which would become Forest Park when it was annexed into Athens-Clarke in 1906. A period during which great change took place at Forest Park began in 1916 when City Manager James Hickey replaced former Mayor Wm Bacon with his own appointees. Under Hickey's guidance, city services grew rapidly while parks improved greatly from their rudimentary beginnings. Thanks to Hickey's initiatives, Forest Park became one of the most thriving cities in Northwest Ohio by the end of the decade. In 1978, Hickey retired from his position after 28 years atop the management team at City Hall and was succeeded by his son Neil Hickey Jr., who has served as mayor since 2002. Today, Forrest park is a busy community with several popular attractions including: The Cleveland Museum Of Art; Cleveland State University; The Cleveland Zoo; Fanshawe Playground; CliffsNotes amusement park - home to both suckered ferris wheels (the world’s largest) - plus 11 other amusement rides; two tennis courts; four basketball Courts; three baseball diamonds; two playgrounds for children aged 3-5 years old and five sports fields for adults age 16 or older that can accommodate up to 50 people each day trip year round! Additionally there are several dense urban forested areas located nearby providing plenty nature lovers with plenty opportunity to explore without leaving town!
