Fairview Park is a community in the U.S. state of Ohio, located about 20 miles east of Youngstown and 30 miles north of Akron. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ashtabula County metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Fairview Park were Native Americans who hunted and collected game near present-day Waterford Township on the Scioto River. In 1792, land on which Fairview Park now stands was granted to John Faircloth by then-Governor George Washington for his help in suppressing a Rebellion against British rule in North America. The first settler in Fairview Park was Elijah White, who arrived with his family from Maryland about 1812. He built a log cabin hereabouts soon after arriving and named it "White's Grove." A few years later he married Rachel Hillman, daughter of Drury Hillman of Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. White next acquired land adjoining her husband's and began trading goods with the Indians near present-day Canal Road and State Route 74 (the pre-1990 alignment of US 131). In 1837, John Cephus bought two lots adjoining Elijah White's along Canal Road for $2 each from him as compensation for damage done by Indians during an Indian War incident two years earlier when Cephus' brother had been killed by them while trying to cross the Scioto River into Canada without permission from their chief.—This early claim to FairVIEW PARK may be more accurately attributed to nearby Guernsey Township where Elijah White had recently settled.(See: Origins Of The Town Of Ashtabula) By 1840 there were 10 homes scattered around what is today Pleasant Valley Cemetery south of CanalRoad between Highways 71 & 73.) By 1850 only four families lived within sight or sound of any other buildings; three hundred acres lay undeveloped within fivesquare miles bounded by canal road, highlands westward extending until nearly reaching Lake Erie beyond that point; commerce grew gradually but surely as travelers passed through these limits daily bringing new immigrants with their herds or merchandise—-Today we can see evidence that this early development pattern continued when construction began on what would become known as “The Village” – most notably visible today along STATE ROUTE 74 just east off OF CANAL ROAD just past HOSPITALITY STATION——————— In 1851 Rev Jno Waddell became pastor at Centerville Chapel after serving several terms as Pastor at Stroudsburg Church (now Parma United Methodist Church). On Sept 15th1853 Rev Waddell preached sermon entitled “A New Heaven And A New Earth” before an audience numbering 150 persons including Governor Mahoning and members of Congress across both Houses.– This event marks one milestone in Reverend Waddell’s ministry which spanned over 50 years eventually leading him to become Bishop Of Cleveland And Presiding Bishop Emeritus Of The Episcopal Diocese Of Ohio
