The history of coffee in Fairview Park, Ohio goes back to at least 1845. In that year, John Fetterman and his family started a small coffee shop on the corner of Market and Elm Streets. The business continued to grow and rapidly expand until it was purchased by Julius Mandel in 1868. At Mandel's store, coffee was ground fresh daily and served up in cups with a variety of flavors. In 1896, the first roastery was opened by David Jones at 419 Elm Street. Coffee beans were roasted in large batches and shipped all over the United States. By 1904, Fairview Park had become one of the most important coffee growing regions in America. As production increased, so did demand for quality beans from Europe and other parts of the world. Fairview Park is a small town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,052 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by pioneers in 1801 and named for Fairfield Irving, an American statesman and member of the U.S. Congress from Pennsylvania who served as ambassador to Great Britain in 1802-03. The village was incorporated on December 18, 1825, and became a town on January 17, 1880. The name "Fairview" may be derived from one of four grants made to the village by President George Washington: $15,000 for land west of Main Street; $10,000 for land south of High Street; and $5,000 for land east of Middle Street. In 1886 Fairview Park erected its own schoolhouse and built a fire engine which it used until 1896 when an addition was added to the school building which included a gymnasium that could seat 350 people. In 1915 the park superintendent's house replaced the first store on High Street which had been built in 1870 when FairVIEW PARK buyout with other towns within Muskingum County authorized by General Order No 174 established fairgrounds throughout Muskingum county including FairVIEW PARK

In 1924 Fairview Park celebrated its centennial with an exhibit of art from all over the United States. The event attracted many dignitaries including President Warren G Harding and his wife Maeve. In 1938 Fairview Park became the site of the annual International Exposition of Electric Light & Power which brought attention to Ohio's electrical industry. In 1951 Fairview Park hosted the Republican National Convention which helped stir interest in the park for future events. In 1966 Fairview Park became part of Cleveland after being annexed by the city from Lake Erie Township

The first game played at Fairview Park was an American football match between Yale University and Princeton University on November 3, 1892. It was also the first intercollegiate athletic event to be televised in America. In 1923, West Side High School (now Stuyvesant High School) moved to Fairview Park from Euclid Heights after being refused use by Trinity Church on West Side Place.
