The Fairview Park, Ohio, Army Reserve unit has a rich history dating back to World War I. The unit was activated on September 14th, 1919 and served in various assignments for the next eleven years. On October 1st, 1923 the Fairview Park Unit was redesignated as the 111th Infantry Regiment of the Third Infantry Division (Old Guard). The regiment played an important role during World War II and later became part of the United States Military Academy's honor guard. In 1957, 119th Infantry Regiment was reorganized into a battalion-sized unit and redesignated as Company D of then-Allegheny County sheriff's department. On November 3rd 1961 company D deployed to Afghanistan where they served until August 1964 when they returned home. From 1963 until 1990 Company D patrolled Pennsylvania's northeast border with New York State. In 1990 Company D relocated to Fairview Park, Ohio and assumed their present mission which is to provide military support to law enforcement agencies throughout central Ohio. Today company D remains one of the most honored units in Fairview Park by its community members who appreciate their service and dedication to their country.

Fairview Park is a community in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,664 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wheeling–Warren–Erie Combined Statistical Area. The first settler in Fairview Park was Nicholas Hiltzik in 1836. It was named for George Fairchild, an early settler and one of the founders of Cleveland. The park has been administered by the Township of Fairview since 1881. The first public school in Fairview Park was built on what is now Depot Street in 1882. In 1906, it moved to its current location on East Market Street near Euclid Avenue. The park has a number of unique features including a golf course, swimming pool and tennis court among others. In 1925, a dam was constructed across Beaver Creek to create Lake Erie State Park which includes much of today's Fairview Park as well as portions of Caldwell and Mentor Counties east of Cleveland along the creek's edge. Today's fairgrounds were originally built on land that once comprised part of Lake Erie State Park.
