The first coffee beans were roasted on a small scale by George Fenton and his brother-in-law, Ebenezer Richardson. By 1884, the business had grown to include four roasters and three grinding machines. In 1916, John Fenton opened the first grocery store in Fairfield and began selling roasted coffee. By 1924, he had purchased the entire business from his father-in-law. In 1951, Harry Jaffe founded Jaffe's Coffee Company which would become one of the largest small batch coffee companies in America. Over time, Jaffe's has acquired other businesses including a printing press and an ovens for baking bread products. When General George Washington arrived at Fort Delaware on July 4th, 1775, he ordered Major James Butler to take up arms against British forces under Lieutenant Colonel John Montresor so that all Americans could be protected from British attack. Mr. Hawthorne helped ButlerLoad artillery onto wagons and set out for Fort Delaware with supplies as soon as possible to join the battlefront against Montresor In 1814 Nathaniel Hawthorne's grandson inherited his father's land which included current day Fairfield Township and founded what would become known as Hawthorne County from that location on February 15th of that year . On October 2nd of that same year , Captain Amos Stroud (of Company K) led a detachment of 300 men overland from Philadelphia to help rout 400 Native American warriors near present day Uniontown Captain Amos Stroud vigorously fought against Indians until he was killed during the engagementcember 25th 1800 while leading Company K downriver towards Clarksburg As captain of company K he had been responsible for organizing and leading one of the most successful military campaigns ever mounted by any American unit

Fairfield, Ohio is a town in Licking County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,906 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1814 by James Fairfield and his partner Nicholas Clark. At that time it was part of the Northwest Territory. In 1825, it became a part of the Erie Canal Zone. In 1827, Fairfield became a town when its charter was granted by the Ohio General Assembly. It had a total population of 10,000 in 1830 and 11,500 in 1840. The town developed around two cotton plantations called "The Farm" and "The Plantation". The first cotton plantation was bought by James Fairfield in 1800 from John Morse for $5 per acre; he used it to farm cotton until he died in 1824. He bequeathed his plantation to his son Nicholas Clark who also operated it until his death in 1830; this property eventually passed to George Washington Smith who sold it to Edward Fenton in 1865 for $2 per acre ($100 per mile). In 1850,Fairfield incorporated as an unincorporated community under the name of "Fayetteville." On November 12, 1870, Fairfield received city status from Licking County when all towns within the county were placed under one government with representation on both levels: township level with elected officials (town meeting) and village level with Five Civil Districts created which encompassed most of Licking County including Fairfield Township including much of what is now rural Dunkirk Township west of I-475 and east of US-131/Wakeman Road northward into Knox Township then southward along US-131 into Union Township where it terminated at I-475 about ten miles northeast of downtown Cleveland proper; these changes resulted from efforts by Representatives Rufus Peevey (Dunkirk Township) and Olin Teague (Knox Township) during their terms as members of the Ohio General Assembly following the American Civil War In 1920Fairfields total population numbered 16K with 5K living on 2 plantations employing over 100 men women and children - still one of America's largest black slave systems!

Fairfield was founded in 1792 by the Shawnee Nation. It became a town on the Scioto River in 1824. The first post office was established in Fairfield in 1826. In 1873, Fairfield incorporated as a village.
