The AAF was founded on December 8, 1941, when the United States joined World War II as a member of the Allies. The AAF was initially called the Army Air Forces (AAF), but it was changed to its current name on July 16, 1947. The AAF played an important role in both World War I and World War II, and it is still one of America's top military services. The Fairfield Air National Guard Station was founded in 1941. The station served as a training ground for fighter pilots and air traffic control personnel during World War II. In 1951, the station became an operational command post for the Ohio Air National Guard. It was redesignated Fairfield Air Force Base in 1968 and served as the primary home of the Ohio ANG's 146th Fighter Wing from 1984 to 1996. The Wing was relocated to Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio in 1998 after being disbanded at Wright-Patterson AFB.
Fairfield is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Fairfield County. The population was 14,594 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Fairfield was John Ranglin, who moved from New York City in 1788 to start a farm on the Scioto River. A post office called Fairfield was established in 1802, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1838. In 1814, German immigrant Nicholas Meyer built a small cabin on the west side of present-day Elmira Road near where I-271 meets I-680. From this cabin, he sold goods door to door for several years before moving into his larger cabin on Elmira Road when development began along this road. In 1830, he sold his land to Solomon Davenport and became one of Davenport's most important supporters during his career as a land speculator and politician in central Ohio. In 1840, Davenport founded the Dayton branch of The Cincinnati Commercial Company which became Dayton Mutual Life Insurance Co., one of America's largest insurance companies with $145 million (in 2014 dollars) in assets at its peak operations by 1950 In 1850, voters approved an ordinance setting up township government with five trustees responsible for all aspects of township affairs including budgeting and spending; elections were held every two years; property qualifications were lowered from 150 acres (60 hectares) to 50 acres (20 hectares), making Fairfield one of the most open townships in Ohio; voting rights were extended to noncitizens over 21 years old; public schools opened for schoolchildren grades K through 12th grade on April 1st 1870 while private schools continued to operate until 1935 ; "an act entitled An Act To Encourage Native American Settlements among Our People" passed by Congress authorized appropriations totaling $1 million (equivalent to $ today) for building roads and other infrastructure leading into Indian Territory thus establishing white Settlement within that territory - also known as "the Purchase"; And finally: On February 14th 1875 – three days after passage by referendum an amendment extending voting rights to women – Fairfield Township voted 3-2 in favor of becoming part of Cleveland Municipal Corporation effective March 1st . Today much remains unchanged from those early days such as Public Schools opening 4th grade then Kindergarten thru 12th grade &fairfaxvillage still has 5 Trustees!

In 1951, the USAF created the Air Force Toys and Games Awards Program to recognize excellence in air force toy design. From 1951-1955, the AFTP presented five annual awards which honored excellence in toy design. The first award was given to Rocky Balboa (a character from Rocky and Bullwinkle) for his work on an air force action figure. Since then, other characters have beenhonored with AFTP Awards including Darth Vader (from Star Wars), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc.
Fairfield is a city in Fairfield County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,711 at the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1814 and named for Colonel Nathaniel Fairfield. It became a town in 1836 and a city in 1912. The current mayor is David Sokolich.
Fairfield is located in the core of Ohio, on the border of Kentucky and Indiana. The community was founded in 1796 by Capt. Samuel Fairfield as a settlement on the fairgrounds near what is now downtown Cincinnati. It grew quickly, and by 1815 it had become a thriving town with a population of over 800 people. In 1830, Fairfield joined the state of Ohio and became an integral part of its economy and culture. The community continued to grow throughthe years, and by 1860 it had reached its peak size with a population of 2,500 people. However, during the American Civil War (1861-1865), Fairfield suffered significant damage from Confederate forces that invaded central Ohio. While many residents chose to stay within their own communities and fight for their country rather than leave their homes, some members of the community did choose to flee to neighboring states in order to help protect their families or property values. This experience led some Fairfieldians to develop an appreciation for life outside of the city limits – which helped make Fairfield one of America’s most diverse communities during this time period. In 1920, Fairfield merged with nearby Dayton to form the city of Dayton Beach.
