Fairborn, Ohio is a city in Muskingum County, Ohio, located on the Great Lakes region. As of the 2010 census, Fairborn had a population of 66,914. It is the third-largest city in Muskingum County and the tenth-largest city in Ohio. The city was founded by pioneers from Indiana in 1813 as part of the Northwest Territory. The first post office was established in Fairborn on October 15, 1814. The name Fairborn originated from an Indian word meaning "happy." The original town site was bounded by what are now North Harrison Street to the north and east; West Main Street to the south and west; and State Road 9 (now US Route 422) to the northwest. A second town site was located at where I-77 departs from I-71 near Sandusky to the southeast. These towns were all abandoned during or shortly after settler migration due to lack of water supplies and other difficulties encountered during travel through those regions at that time. In 1818, George Washington passed through Fairborn on his way back from his stay with General Anthony Wayne at Vandalia Heights outside Dayton. He stopped for dinner at John's Tavern before continuing his journey southward via Chillicothe toward Cincinnati. On November 8, 1818, President James Kossuth visited Fairborn while en route to Lancaster for a speech given at Drake University on November 10th about Illinois' secession from United States government On March 21st 1895 two gunshots were fired inside J H Gregg & Sons hardware store just around corner from present day Riverside Drive & 3rd St when unidentified men entered store brandishing pistols

Fairborn is a town in Brown County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1824 and named for John Fair, an American Revolutionary War soldier and congressman from Ohio. The first school in Fairborn was opened in 1827 by teacher Ebenezer Leary. In 1830, the town voted to incorporate as a village. The first mayor of Fairborn was James Gee. In 1831, the Village ofFairborn merged with the Town of Clinton to form the Village of Clinton-Fairborn Township which still exists today as a separate municipality within Brown County (although it is included within Fairborn). In 1836, thanks to oil exploration by Horace Greeley and Jabez Bowen, Fairborn became one of the first towns in Ohio to have its own railroad company; this helped make it an important commercial center during what would be called the Jacksonian Revolution. A new courthouse and jail were built in 1840 and 1841 respectively on State Road 24 north of town; both are now gone but their locations remain commemorated on nearby streets. For many years after World War II ended hostilities between America's two main allies—the Soviet Union and Japan—Fairborn saw increased activity due to smuggling activities taking place through its small airport located about five miles away from downtown core. This led to increasing law enforcement activity around the airport over time which has resulted in some arrests or convictions for those caught smuggling goods into or out of that airport since its opening in 1948. Since then however no major crime has taken place at Airport Airport despite efforts by local law enforcement officials to keep it that way. In 2002–2003 construction began on Interstate 775 across from Airport Airport which will provide much-needed traffic relief while also helping improve public transportation options for residents living near I-77/I-475 exit 103B west of town including bus connections into Columbus Zoo & Botanical Garden as well as other areas east of I-277/I-475 across from Airport Airport
