In 1802, John Davenport founded what would become Dayton, Ohio as a stop on his Underground Railroad trip from slavery to freedom. In 1814, Fairborn was incorporated as a town. In 1851, an act was passed Congress providing for compulsory education for all white children in Ohio. This led to the founding of the School District No. 562 which included present-day Fairborn and parts of neighbouring townships including Orchard Heights and Park Ridge. The school district served students until 1957 when it merged with the School District No. 1128 in Toledo Beach to form today's Toledo Public Schools system During World War II, Fairborn played an important role in supplying materials for local allies such as U.S Army Air Forces Base Wright-Patterson and other military installations across eastern Ohio during World War II The city also experienced significant growth following its incorporation into the commonwealth of Ohio in 1837 after becoming part of Indiana Territory following Indiana's admission into Confederation in 1787 In 1924, Fairborn became one of twelve cities located within three charter counties - Columbiana (in northwestern Warren County), Miami (southwest Clermont County), and Putnam (northwest Monroeville County). These charter counties were established under statehood laws that went into effect on July 1, 1907 On November 3rd 1920 via referendum held by citizens of these cities voting 2/3 majorities against annexation by Lebanon Township; Columbus Township had petitioned for annexation but lost toFairborn by a vote of just over two thirds majority Having failed twice to gain incorporation into either central or southern OH&C areas through referenda since 1830s; both Lebanon Township General Court offices have been located at 6205 Clinton Pike (then Elmira Road) since 1920; this has been seen locally as an embarrassment & continues to be Community Watchdog’s main rallying cry against outside pressures from large businesses seeking more access to public land

Fairborn is a town in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dayton–Boardersville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The township was organized on March 12, 1818, by order of the General Assembly. On December 14, 1821, it became a city by act of the General Assembly. The first mayor and council were John A. Haggerty (R), James Glessner (D), and Ebenezer Higgins (I). The city charter was amended on July 1, 1888 to create an eighth ward which included Fairborn as well as parts of North Union Township and Canfield Township. In 1916 Fairborn amalgamated with neighboring townships to form what is now Dayton-Fairborn City School District No. 3 (). In 1954 the district disbanded when Fairborn incorporated as a village; however, portions of Fairborn still remain within the school district boundaries today for special education services provided by Dayton-Middletown Charter Schools .
The community of Fairborn was founded in 1812 by prosperous farmers and settlers. The town grew rapidly in the early 1800s, thanks to its location on the Scioto River. In 1825, Fairborn became the county seat of Lucas County. When Ohio split into two states in 1837, Fairborn became part of Columbus.
