The Coast Guard became an integral part of the Navy and eventually lost its autonomy. In 1923, Congress passed legislation that authorized the President to award Medals of Honor to members of the Coast Guardsmen who display heroism while performing duties on land or at sea. Medals were first awarded to officers in 1942 but were discontinued after World War II because so many people received them becoming known as honorary medals rather than actual awards from Congress. Today, there are over 4,000 members of the Coast Guard who receive awards every year including Medal of Honor recipients as well as recipients of other bravery awards such as Good Conduct Medals, Navy Crosses, and Battle Stars. Fairborn is a town in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 20,824 at the 2010 census. The downtown area of Fairborn is home to the county courthouse, two hospitals, and many businesses. Other major attractions include the Fairborn Zoo, as well as nearby Hillsboro and Findlay. The first Europeans to visit what is now Lucas County were French traders and Jesuit missionaries who traveled along the Great Lakes in 1679–1680. They named their new land "Ohio", after Jean-Baptiste de la Mothe Cadillac, Sieur de La Salle's captain on the ill-fated expedition that discovered Michigan in 1687. Cadillac thought he had found a route to India; his map did not reflect this important fact until much later when other explorers followed his lead. In 1814， James K., 5th President of the United States (1809-1825), sold 640 acres (250 hectares) of land at what is now Fairborn for $5 per acre ($40 per hectare). At that time it was part of Franklin Township. In 1821， John Dickey bought 640 acres (250 hectares) from K., for $10 per acre ($60 per hectare). This purchase made Fairborn one of Ohio's largest towns by area then -larger than Cincinnati or Toledo! In 1829， George Stephenson built his locomotive "The Rocket" near present day Hilliard Avenue and High Street in Fairborn for use on the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War effort. The locomotive was used to take runaway slaves from Kentucky back into slavery in Illinois! On December 15th 1830， Samuel Hubbard opened a millinery shop at 715 Main Street which became known as Hubbard’s Emporium afterwards! It continued operation until 1893 when it burned down! On November 10th 1836， George Stephenson erected an iron fence around lot 438 on State Road 3 south of town limits and called it “The Stephenson Fence” which remains today! A schoolhouse replaced an earlier log building which had been destroyed by fire on October 8th 1840。 That same year also saw construction of a storeroom/labyrinth inside old Court House #2 behind where Commerce Hall now stands…the first such structure west of Appalachians! According to one source: “There are three churches located within walking distance of each other: First Baptist Church at 202 Elm St., Second Methodist Church at 622 Elm St., and Third Presbyterian Church at 608 Elm St…. All three churches share services with each other on Sundays morning starting about six years ago." Another source reports that there are only two churches located within walking distance but they serve different denominations: First Baptist church serves Presbyterians while Second Methodist church functions as an integrative member congregation for both Baptists and Methodists however Third Presbyterianchurch does not have any services scheduled yet

We are committed to maintaining our nation’s coastline by enforcing laws related to navigation, lifesaving boating, environmental protection, fisheries management and trade issues; conducting search and rescue missions when necessary; providing maritime security; assisting with immigration purposes; performing customs inspection; being available 24/7 for response to emergencies or emergencies at sea or ashore. In 1992-1993 Congress appropriated $2 million for a new coast guard helicopter program which was later cancelled due to low enrollment rates at that time In 2006-2007 Congress appropriates $5 million for a new coast guard helicopter program which will be implemented starting in fiscal year 2007

Fairborn, Ohio is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 20,391 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Lucas County after Cincinnati. The name "Fairborn" is derived from the Shawnee word for "peaceful place." The original site of Fairborn was on the east side of today's downtown area and was known as Indian Point. The first European settlers in what is now Fairborn were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1683. They named their land de Valkenburg (later renamed Fairfield). In 1795, when Ohio became a state, Fairburn Township was established within Lucas County and included what are now Fairborn and Wilmington neighborhoods on its eastern border. In 1801, Stephen Ahearn and John Nicholas built a gristmill on White River that became one of the largest mills in Erie County. Ahearn & Nichols merchants soon developed into one of the leading businesses in eastern Ohio. In 1823 they merged with other major millers to become John D’Arcy & Sons Manufacturing Company which still flourishes today as an important Columbus-based manufacturer of paper products and other products. In 1827 George Washington Harris founded the first post office in Lucas County - called Harnessstown - with help from Colonel Solomon Pryor of Delaware Township (now Delaware). As early as 1830 efforts were made to set up a courthouse here but no success occurred until 1833 when Judge David Cushing donated land near what is now First Baptist Church for use as government buildings. On July 12, 1840, during times of great social unrest throughout America due to financial issues brought about by Civil War questions over slavery only three blocks away at Second Baptist Church led toprising by several citizens including Caleb Strong organized Merchants' Association which purchased two lots adjoining Second Baptist Church Iias property then moved Nolichucky Creek across street building new $6000 structure housing stores w mens chambre etc., called “George Washington Harris Post Office” continuing until 1865 following purchase by Mr Pemberton who reorganized it into Indiana State Bank branch October 9 1865 reopened November 15 1865 successor to Farmers National bank On May 7 1861 Union General Ulysses S Grant issued Proclamation No 1 calling for all men under arms to assembled at 10 PM local time nine miles east from town center on adjacent piece of ground bounded by High Street on one side thence extending northerly along alignment laid out by Surveyor General William Halleck . . .
