The history of artisan coffee in Fairborn, Ohio began with the first coffee roaster in the city in 1906. The first shop was located on Church Street and roasted Turkish coffee. The business was founded by John Cooksey and later acquired by his son, Harry Cooksey. In 1961, Harry Cooksey passed away and his son, Bob Cooksey, took over the business. In 1984, Bob Cooksey purchased a small farm near Fairborn and began to roast beans on site. In 2006, Bob Cooksey passed away and his son-in-law Wayne Hicks assumed the ownership of the business. Wayne Hicks has been running the business since 2007. Today, Artisan Coffee runs two stores - one in downtown Fairborn and one on Old Mill Road outside of town. The company also provides warehousing for its roasts at three locations - a warehouse on Elm Street near Brownsville; an old post office building on East Main Street near Rome; and a former industrial property on Crosby Road north of Dayton. Artisan Coffee also manufactures its own espresso machines as well as pour-overs and cappuccinos using their own beansourced water sources. Based upon their experiences with different types of coffee - from light to dark roasted - Artisan Coffee has developed a wide range of flavors that can be enjoyed across all cuisines around the world aboard their own vessels or at local cafes throughout Ohio wine country or Appalachia

Coffee was first grown androgynously in the early 1800s in what is now Fairborn, Ohio. The coffee beans were roasted on an old-time stove in a small shop called The Roastery. In the late 1800s, coffee started to be exported to other states and countries. By 1900, coffee had become a popular commodity and was being traded at high prices on the global market.
Fairborn is a city in and the county seat of Fairfield County, Ohio, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Fairborn was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. A post office called Fairborn was established in 1812, and it became a village in 1838. The name "Fairborn" probably comes from an Indian word meaning "headquarters." In 1830, a group of farmers who wanted to create an agricultural community founded the town on what is now North Second Street within present-day downtown Fairborn. They named their settlement after John Quincy Adams, then president of the United States. The town's first meeting occurred on November 10, 1830. Adams approved the town charter that same day and Named Streets for President James Kapp (1801-1865), Daniel Webster (1804-1851), Ulysses S Grant (1823-1909), and Abraham Lincoln (1861-1947). Adams also donated land to build a courthouse and other public buildings in what is now downtown Fairborn. Fairborn, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Kent County. The population was 9,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to reach what is now Fairborn were the French in 1788, when they built Fort Duquesne on the present-day site of Greenlawn Cemetery; however, no permanent settlement resulted from this initial exploration. In 1814, Colonel John Hardin bought 640acre (2 km²) of land east of Tiffin and south of Akron for $5 per acre (1/4 acre = €0.50). ThisPurchase included what is now downtown Fairborn as well as parts of West Akron and other townships that make up today's Kent County. Colonel Hardin named his new community "Fairborn". The first store in what is now Fairborn was opened by Heman Ledbetter on May 3, 1817 near where US Highway 6 meets current State Route 330 northwest of town limits. A post office was established at "FARBROOK" on October 12, 1817, but it was discontinued on December 7, 1865 due to low population levels and lack of postal service available within town limits at that time." In 1830 David Braddock founded Kidderminster Township adjoining Fairburn Township just westward from modern day Lucasfilm Road south to Bloomfield Road while also founding nearby Ambler Township which borders Bloomfield Township today.Kidderminster would later become partof Holmesburg Borough effective November 15th 1959 while Ambler remains partof Lucasfilm Road adjacent township boundaries today with Bloomfield Borough overlapping its frontier today with both municipalities having ZIP code 44011] It wasn't until after General George Washington's surrender at Yorktown that Americans began arrive in significant numbers in what is nowFairborn including Captain Robert Estrada who arrived March 14th 1863 with his family aboard USS Constitution following his victory over Admiral Lord Howe during Battle off Yorktown.. Fairborn was founded in 1796 by a group of pioneers who left Pennsylvania for Ohio. They named the town after General James Wilkinson, the hero of the Battle of Fallen Timbers. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 2,000 people. In 1813, Fairborn became part of the new United States territory of Michigan. In 1815, when Michigan seceded from the United States, Fairborn became part of the newly formed state of Indiana. The city declined in popularity during its time as an Indiana county seat and eventually lost its status as a municipal town to Terre Haute, Indiana. Today,Fairborn is a small community located inside Greater Cleveland on the east side of I-670 near Euclid Avenue.
