The Fairbornarmy was founded in 1814 and has served in the Ohio National Guard since 1827. The Fairbornarmy Museum tells the story of the army from its creation to the present day. The museum features exhibits on military history, equipment, uniforms, and more. The army's origins can be traced back to 1814 when a small group of volunteers from Fairborn decided to form an organization to protect their community. They named themselves the "Fairborn Volunteers" and began fundraising for supplies and ammunition. In July of that year, they received a Donation of $600 from General James Wilkinson, commander of Fort Washington at Warsaw Township in Harrison County. This donation allowed them to create a nucleus of soldiers that would become known as the "Fairborn Army." The first unit raised by the Fairbornarmy was called Company C (now Troop A) which consisted of ten men. It was garrisoned at Fort Washington until 1830 when it moved southward to Cincinnati where it remained until 1833 when it disbanded due to lack of funding. In 1830, General George Monongahela ordered Captain David Steele's brigade into action against Native Americans nearpresent-day Portsmouth, Ohio during what is now known as The Battle for Powell’s River. The battle resulted in about 100 civilian fatalities and 581 enlisted casualties with only two companies remaining after retreat became necessary due to heavy Indian resistance. This event marks one of the earliest engagements between American forces and Native Americans and helped establish American hegemony over this region for years afterwards. In 1835, Captain David Steele again fought Indians during The Battle Of Fallen Timbers near Chillicothe, Ohio which left two hundred killed including thirty officers including Colonel John Sturgis who commanded Company K (now Troop G). colonel Sturgis is also recognized as being one of America’s most successful commanders during this time period for his ability lead his units with skill insteadof relying solely on firepower or strategy; he is often considered one of America’s very first battlefield generals In 1840-1841 Lieutenant Colonel Amos Prentice led an expedition against Native Americans at Sandusky Bayou located in Lucas County while serving under Major General Henry Dearborn On October 15th 1861 Lieutenant Colonel Robert Elam's brigade composed entirelyOF volunteer infantrymen marched 119 miles through hostile territory upriver from Youngstown under fire from cannonsade batteries positioned along routes leading eastward towards Dayton &cincinnati&cincinnati Ohioserland

The original name of the town was "Fairsville." The first Europeans to visit what is now Fairborn were members of the French and Indian War party led by Colonel George Washington on July 4, 1755. They named their location after Sir John Fairchild, 1st Baronet (1685-1754), one of the leaders of the English forces that fought against colonial France in North America during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763). In 1814, when Ohio became a state, Fairborn was included within its borders. In 1828 it again became part ofFairfield County when that county was created from portions of Butler and Montgomery counties. In 1836 it incorporated as a city. By 1920, Fairborn had reached its peak with a total population of 76,000; however, during the Great Depression most families lost their jobs which led to increasing crime rates and social unrest until Mayor Frank Jackson restored order in 1933 through aggressive policing measures that were later copied by other mayors throughout Greater Cleveland. Today, Fairborn remains an important commercial center with numerous small businesses along with high concentrations of poverty and crime rates among its residents
