The United States Air Force's history in Fairborn, Ohio dates back to World War II. The city was first settled in 1821 and became a military base during the war. After the war, Fairborn continued to be a center for aviation research and development. In 1948, the USAF activated its air wing here and began operations of the world's first jet fighter squadron. Today, Fairborn is home to multiple USAF bases as well as major aerospace manufacturers such as Northrop Grumman and Boeing. In recent years, donations by members of the military have been an important part of the community's coffers. In October 2014, US Air Force LtCol Robert Wuelk donated his collections of WWII vintage aircraft to Fairborn Civic Center in memory of his fallen comrades from that conflict. Additionally, retired US Air Force Maj Gen Bruce Jentleson has given time and money to numerous local charities throughout his life - including funds earmarked for air force memorials atFairborn Municipal Airport - making him one of the biggest donors in town history. Despite this generosity from Members of the Military community, it is not all good news for Fairbrornians! In January 2018, Northrop Grumman announced they were ending their lease on their large facility located adjacent to Main Street SE in what was seen as another blow to city finances following decades of steady economic growth. This announcement came just months after Mayor Steve Selbach unveiled plans Calling For A $30 million investment over five years into revitalization efforts within downtown Fairborn – an effort which included developing a new mixed-use development around an old munitions plant on property northeast of town square known locally as "the old quarry". Although efforts are ongoing to find new tenants for north side Main Street SE property since then – with no end in sight – these retirements have had an significant impact on available funding for downtown redevelopment projects within our walls!

Fairborn, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Lucas County. The population was 25,974 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Middletown Combined Statistical Area. Located on the border of Lorain and Lake Erie counties, Fairborn has been known as an agricultural center since its founding in 1824. Manufacturing became significant during World War II when Fairborn became home to United States military aircraft production plants such as Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Northrop Aircraft Corporation. Today, Fairborn is a bedroom community for Akron with many businesses located in neighboring towns such as Lyndhurst and Mayfield Heights. The first settler in what is now Fairborn was John Green who arrived there in 1824 from Maryland along with his family. Green built a log cabin on the banks of the Cuyahoga River where he named it "Greenville". He operated a ferry service across that body of water until 1830 when he sold his business to Amos Aldrich which later became one of Ohio's leading banks. In 1836, George Rogers founded what is now called Rogers & Company Beneficial Agricultural Society which raised crops and markets goods across north central Ohio with help from wealthy Americans including Simon Cameron (founder of Cameron Rubber) and others who had traveled to Canada to purchase logs for manufacturing purposes back home at this time. 2nd Lt John Slessor landed at Sandusky Bay on July 8th1814 with 10 men onboard HMS Beagle during her circumnavigation of Antarctica

In 1951 an additional section was established which became known as the Aeronautics Museum Wing within Headquarters Aerospace Forces Command (HACC). This wing housed artifacts related to aircraft design and construction with a primary focus oniller General Curtis LeMay’s Jet fighter program during the late 1940s thru 1950s. Fairborn is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County. The population was 30,176 at the 2010 census, making it the 15th most populous municipality in Summit County and one of the largest cities in Summit County by population. The area around Fairborn has been inhabited for over three hundred years, with evidence from archeological sites dating back to 1000 BC. The first European settler in what is now Fairborn was Nicholas Flournoy, who arrived in 1792 and platted what is today Fairborn Township on land he purchased from the Shawnee tribe. In 1812, John Cranch founded Cincinnati as a military post on his farm west of Fairborn where he erected a log cabin known as Fort Washington which later became part of Downtown Cincinnati. In 1814, Ohio General David Dixon constructed Fort Dearborn east of present-day Dayton to protect against Indian attacks on central Ohio settlements during the War of 1812. The city's current form began when its boundaries were erected following a referendum held on November 3, 1907;fairborn had been previously unincorporated territory within Summit County. On July 1, 1909Fairborn became an incorporated municipalities as part of an effort to promote municipal government throughout Summit County while also increasing development opportunities for residents outside the city limits. As more families moved into downtown Fairburns prohibition laws made it difficult for them to enjoy polite social interactions without breaking law or risking arrest or prosecution; this led to widespread alcoholism and moral turpitude among some residents beginning in the early 1920s until finallyx Closing down speakeasies (and other forms social evils) did away with organized crime altogether after Prohibition ended in 1933
The community of Fairborn, Ohio was founded in 1795 by James K. Polk and his wife Sarah. It was a small village located on the Ashtabula River about 20 miles south of Youngstown,Ohio. The first post office was established in Fairborn in 1801. In 1825, the town became a township and then a city in 1903. The population of Fairborn peaked at 11,000 in 1920 and declined to 6,500 by 1930.
