Military gift history in Euclid, Ohio begins with the first American military forces being stationed in the area in 1814. The town of Euclid was founded by Methodist missionaries and its first stores were selling items such as clothing, books, and tools to soldiers on leave from Fort Dearborn. It wasn’t until 1825 that a fort was built in the town and it was called Fort Stedman. During this time, Euclid became an important military post because it had a strategic location overlooking the Sandusky River. In 1865, when Union General Ulysses S. Grant moved his army into Ohio to fight against Confederate General Robert E. Lee, Fort Stedman was abandoned and used as a storage depot for troops along with other locations around Euclid. In 1892, the United States began involvement in World War I which led to an increase in civilian demand for goods produced by American manufacturers such as munitions and clothing. The war led to an increased demand for steel products which resulted in new factories being established throughout Ohio including one near Euclid called Steel City Corporation. This factory produced weapons for the US military including tanks and artillery pieces that were shipped all over Europe during World War II. After World War II ended, many of these factories closed down but some continue production today including those at Steel City Corporation which is now home tothe Columbus Museum of Art

Euclid is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Summit County. It is located on the southern border of Dayton, Ohio and west of Cincinnati, Ohio. As of 2010, Euclid had a population of 67,876. The Greater Euclid area has a population size of 191,721 as of 2019 according to the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey). The first Europeans to visit what is now Ohio were Frenchmen in 1701 and they named it "Lac du Flambeau" for the fire that burned near Fort Niagara on the Canadian side of Lake Erie (now part of Toronto). They also called it "New France". On July 6, 1792, General George Washington was present when General David Hull formally constituted Summit County from parts of Miami and Scioto counties during a meeting at Muskingum Hall in downtown Cincinnati. In 1802, surveying engineer Nicholas-Jacques Conte arrived in America while surveying routes for a new canal system linking Buffalo Bayou with Toledo and Cleveland harbor. Conte designed an earthwork fortification known as Fort Dearborn which served as his headquarters during his surveys; he also built two other forts near what are now Riverdale Park () and Lyndhurst (); one near Gahanna () today's South Liverpool neighborhood; and one near Boston Heights (). On May 12th 1812 Captain James Ketchum became US Commodore at Presque Isle Key after being appointed by President James Kapp during Kapp's tenure as Commodore stationed at Great Lakes Command under Admiral John Graves Simcoe (). In 1814-15 he participated in building fortifications along both banks OF The Styx River between Detroit Michigan Territory - today's MI - Chicago Illinois Territory - today's IL - AND Syracuse New York Territory:today's NY City () A map dated August 3rd 1830 shows that Indian traderstraveling downriver from fur trading post(s) on Mackinac Island had reached British Columbia through Georgian Bay about June 8th 1830 when their vessel "Nova Scotia" encountered obstruction off Headwaters villageabout 3 miles upriver from present day Sturgeon Point just east shorelineof current day Harbor Beach Blvd.,just upstream from Lockport Marina jetty formerly known as Sturgeon Point Lighthouse Site ().
