Euclid, Ohio is a city in the United States that stands on the edge of the University of Cincinnati campus. The Euclid community has long been known for its manufacturing and agricultural businesses, as well as its unique architecture. From 1818 to 1827, Euclid was home to General David Humphreys’s headquarters for his American Legion forces during the War of 1812. In 1903, Euclid became home to The Cleveland Press, one of America's first daily newspapers. The paper was founded by John Husted and his brother-in-law George Brown. After years of operation at 2nd and Main Street in downtown Euclid, the paper relocated in 1924 to a new building on East Second Street. In 1960, when Euclid had a population of only 602 people, it elected its first female mayor—Margaret Bacher—who served until her death in 1984. Today, Euclid is one of the most diverse cities in Ohio with a population over 11,000 residents who come from all over the United States and many different cultures. It is also one of the most economically vibrant cities in Ohio with an annual GDP exceeding $2 billion dollars. One reason why Euclid has become so diverse is due to its history as a center for Manufacturing and Agriculture production; two industries that have continued to be important in this city since before Prohibition ended alcohol sales nationwide in 1920. Many buildings still remain from these past industries including: The National Machine & Foundry Company plant (now KPMG), which employed up to 1,500 people at its peak; Wernher von Braun’s rocket engine development lab; Carrier Corp.'s Hamilton Aircraft plants; Owens Tire & Rubber Co.'s Swenzer Tire factory; and Shoe Corporation's Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant #1 (now Peet's Coffee). These factories produced everything from shoeshine boots up into high end autos such as Cadillacs or Rolls Royces! Another reason why Euclid continues to produce so much throughout its history is due to how interconnected it has become with other parts of Greater Cincinnati through Interstate 75 and Bloomfield Road/Upper Arlington Rd., both major highways connecting Cincinnati with other parts ofobsidian county including Dayton and Covington Counties respectively

Euclid is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. Euclid is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. It began as a small settlement on the Scioto River by European Americans in 1814 and grew rapidly during the 19th century as a center for education and industry. In 1865, Euclid became an independent village when it seceded from Columbiana County. The town reached its peak of prosperity during World War II when resources were abundant and many industries were located there; however, since then decline has set in with a decrease in jobs and population growth. With few new projects announced nor any significant progress made to keep up with changes in the economy, Euclid has seen some decline over time. The community was platted on October 3, 1814 by James Caldwell and others under the name "Euclid", after Greek mathematician Ptolemy's city of Alexandria (Alkimos). In 1825, John Dennison sold land east of Euclid to James Caldwell for $5 per acre; this sale created what would become known as Euclid Square. On May 16, 1830 James Caldwell married Sarah Thornton and moved from Alexandria to purchase more land outside of Dublin Township west of Euclid Square for $30 per acre ($2/acre) which he donated to his wife's family within two years. By 1840-1841, three other families had purchased parcels adjacent to Caldwell's original holdings: Ephraim Brown bought property north of where Euclide now stands on December 12th street between Metropole avenue (now North Avenue) and Academy Road; Samuel Morse bought land south of where Union High School now stands on February 17th Street between College Avenue (nowBroadway) and Dayton Avenue; while Abraham Marshfield acquired 2 acres east side Clinton square east of Park Place named Marshfield Heights before it was renamed Athens Heights following Ohio statehood on March 4th., 1847 In 1850-1851 through purchases by various farmers across central Ohio including George Hinkle along with donations from individuals such as Andrew Mellon & John Dennison-Euclid had annexed much territory previously lying within Dublin Township including parts of what are now Lawrenceburg/Greenville Township & Perrysburg/Niles Township - all except Greenville being detached from Columbiana County The first school in what would later become Euclide was built at Brookside Female Seminary near modern day Market Street(then South Tryon Street) about 1800–1800 BC but burned down around 1800 AD due to Indians attacking settlers nearby so no record exists thereof however current market street bears that name . A second school called Brookside Female Seminary or simply "Brookside" was opened about 1830AD – this school burned down again soon afterwards but there is evidence remaining today indicating that it actually stood close by changing names multiple times over time! One story suggests that a local carpenter may have been able to fix up an old barn into makeshift classrooms using only nails! However whatever the case may beBrookside Female Seminary still stands today+ currently used as offices by City Schools 2001 According to one source they started having children out early because “the parents knew they could not get back into work if their children remained home sick” . Another source claims that residents did this so they could stay home during bad weather periods which also contributed towards their success early on .
