The first military gift to Englewood was a rifle from Ohio's militia. The rifle, which was donated by Captain Andrew J. Lowry, served in the American Revolution and is still in use today. In 1827, a cannon was gifted to the community by General James Wilkinson of the United Kingdom. The cannon is now on display at the Englewood Museum. A knapsack was given to Englewood in 1838 by Colonel John Gadsden of Alabama. The knapsack contained food for forty-eight men and their horses and it became an important source of sustenance for soldiers during the Civil War. A enlistment book from 1861 shows that there were over 200 residents ofEnglewood who contributed money to support the Union army. In 1865, a musket was donated to Englewood by Major General David Dixon Steele of Virginia. The musket served as an important tool for militaries around the world and remains in use today. In 1886, a house was gifted to Englewood by Mrs. John Hanks of Cincinnati with funds raised through an auction conducted in honor of her husband, Congressman William Swayne (D-Ohio). The home is now called “Mrs. Hanks House” and is used as a museum inside the community hall complex within Englewood Township Hall park located on Park Avenue across from Sriracha Thai restaurant
Englewood is a town in Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,755 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. Englewood was founded by parents of John A. Engle and his wife Sarah in 1814 as a small village on the opposite bank of the Cuyahoga River from Cleveland. The name "Englewood" means “place where oak trees are found” in the Iroquois language. The first real settlement in Englewood occurred after John A. Engle's purchase of land along the river from the Native Americans in 1814. English settlers arrived during this time and named their new community "Englewood." By 1830, all but one family had removed to other parts of Ashtabula County or were killed by Indians while living thereabouts; however, some families continued to live at "Englewood." In 1836, John A. Engle donated land that now makes up most of what is now Englewood Village to establish a public school district which would serve as an agricultural center for southern Ashtabula County and provide employment opportunities for its residents. In 1840, when Obed Norris purchased 10 acres (40 hectares) near present-day Englewood Village from John A. Engler for $1 cash and plowed it over with his horse and cart so that he could build a home thereon, history again changed forever when Plainfield Township was organized within Ashtabula County on April 12, 1840 - exactly one year after Obed Norris' donation! Today Obed Norris State Park remains one of America's earliest national parks! Although there have been several changes to our Community since then (church services being conducted both inside and outside of town limits through satellite TV services since 2006), many aspects remain unchanged including: Our vibrant downtown core anchored by 2 churches (Church Street United Methodist Church & First Presbyterian Church), 3 businesses: 2 gas stations/convenience stores - each serving more than twice per day average traffic counts; 1 grocery store; 2 bars & restaurants - each with more than 50% occupancy; 1 ice cream parlour; numerous park facilities such as tennis courts & playgrounds etc.; continuing strong support from our local police department who have made our streets much safer for everyone involved especially kids playing nearby

Englewood is a city in the United States. The population was 24,912 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Cleveland-Akron metropolitan area. Englewood was founded on May 10, 1892, by Methodists and other Protestants from Ohio's capital of Columbus. The city was named for Reverend George Engle (1788-1869), an early superintendent of schools in the Cleveland area. The first store in what would become Englewood opened its doors on May 10, 1892. At that time, it was part of Euclid Township and included much of today's Englewood neighborhood. Reverend George Engle served as school superintendent from 1911 to 1919 and again from 1929 to 1933. In 1906, he donated land for what is now the Englewood Recreation Center which became a municipally owned park in 1928. During World War II, many American soldiers were brought here to work on munitions plants and other factories during the war years; some remain buried here today as part of the Greater Cleveland Veterans Cemetery complex (opened 1907). After World War II ended, most manufacturing left behind by American production transitioned into new styles such as information technology and medical equipment sales; however, some businesses that survived did continue operations until 1991 when they merged with Allied Bancorp to form First National Bank of Akron (now Wells Fargo). In 2001, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced plans for development around engleewood center which would include such high-profile projects as a hotel/condo complex called Regency Tower and several large shopping malls inside or adjacent to Downtown Akron along with thousands more jobs creating over 20 thousand new positions overall within 5 years across various sectors including healthcare IT services sector due to location just minutes' walk away from University Hospitals Case Medical Center & Wexner Medical Center & Regional Hospital affiliated with them all! Today we have beautiful Midtown Park right outside our front door! This quasi-natural gas field has been producing oil since 1908 but this hasn't kept pace with demands for housing so people are starting to call it "the gusher". And while there have been protests and vandalism ever since drilling began... people are seeing potential: A brand new midtown mall complete with restaurants, bars etc., two theaters/cinemas (one multiplex), an basketball court/parking lot/golf course being built next door to one another (and plans are underway for a second movie theater!), an amphitheater being started up near our high school too!

The area around Englewood became an agricultural region with crops such as corn, beans, and peas being grown. In 1832, the first post office was established in Englewood. A sawmill and grist mill were constructed in 1835 and 1840 respectively, followed by a store and schoolhouse in 1846. The Village of Englewood incorporated as a town in 1865. In 1902, it became a city after it merged with neighboring townships. In 1967, it became part of the Cleveland metropolitan area
