Englewood is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the edge of the University of Toledo campus. The population was 46,619 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland- Akron-Mentor metropolitan area and is considered to be one of Midwestern America's most "diverse" cities. Englewood has been home to some of Ohio's earliest white settlements and contains many notable historical sites such as Butler County Hall and Wright Air Force Base. The first Englewood settlers arrived in 1797, when Daniel Boone set out from Greenville Township in western Wayne County on horseback for what he thought would be a new land grant near Painesville. He and his party made their way east, crossing the Scioto River near present day Unity Township before continuing into Butler County. They were soon joined by other pioneers including James Purdy and Jabez Dixon, who had also traveled west from Chesterfield Township in central Ohio along the same trail that later became known as Route 66. In 1800, John Carskadon set out from Xenia on Lake Erie for what he thought would be an even bigger land grant than those given to Daniel Boone and his followers earlier that year–the so-called "Prominence Grant". When he reached what is now Elmira (then Xenia), he found only four people living there: himself, two brothers named Ebenezer and Solomon Sturgis; John Carver Jr., who farmed around Xenia until 1827; and Elisha Morse, a native of Xenia who engaged in lumbering activities along the Scioto River valley between Xenia and Euclid Heights until his death in 1872. From this small group emerged one of America's earliest white towns – Englewood – which began developing rapidly around 1800 as waves of European immigrants arrived seeking fertile land to settled down on or purchase from Native Americans dating back centuries ago. As early Englewood residents developed their businesses and social lives within a tightknit community founded around religious beliefs based upon Baptist Christianity – which Atwater describes as "an intensity bordering on fanaticism" – they built up one of America’s most vibrant cultures during its formative years following independence from Great Britain just over two centuries earlier. Though few residents actually lived inside either schoolhouse or church tower erected by original founders Daniel Boone (1771-1849) or Jabez Dixon (1776-1845), both buildings still stand today within town limits; they are currently used for storage purposes however! By 1825 all but three residents had left for unknown reasons after becoming embroiled in local politics over grantshare agreements with surrounding communities which had become too prosperous for them to maintain without additional investment - leaving behind an impoverished town whose only hope lay within its fledgling schools system where students continued attending even after Brushy Creek Dam upstream threatened their water supply several times during the 1850s! Englewood is a small town in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. It was founded by George Engle in 1824. The town's population was 2,814 at the 2000 census. The firstEnglewood post office opened in 1825. In 1827, two years after Englewood was founded, settlers near what is now West Chester Township killed a white man for being Indian and stealing his horse. This led to a land dispute that eventually ended with the purchase of 1/2 mile (1 km) of parcels from John Pemberton in 1830. The site of today's Englewood Cemetery remains undeveloped until 1865 when it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. James Gwynn and donated to the town as part of their Estate Plan Settlement Agreement with the Township of West Chester. From 1865 until 1957, Englewood had its own schoolhouse which served grades K-12th Grade students from both townships on one campus together; however, due to budget cuts caused by World War II and other nationwide changes, this school closed in 1957 and property became available for development again! In 1953, Englewood merged with neighboring West Chester Township to form a single municipality under the name "West Chester." In 1961 - during President John F Kennedy's first term - Englewood voted to change its name to "Englewood" in honor of then-Mayor Edward C Engelhardt who had been supportive of Mayor Richard J Rooney's efforts within the city government during that time period. On October 15th 1976 – just shy of 100 years since George Engles original settlement – all residents were granted voting rights within their new municipality limits! Today, while not an entirely thriving community like it used to be (the population has decreased over time), there are still many people who call EngelWOOD home!
