The town of Eastlake, Ohio is located in the northeast corner of the state of Ohio. The population was 9,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. Eastlake is a small town with a very small school system and only one hospital. Eastlake was founded in 1812 by Captain James Kapp and his family as a stop on their way from Steubenville, Ohio to Canton, Ohio. In 1824, Colonel John Bainbridge donated land to form what would become Eastlake Township. The township's first post office opened in 1828. In 1840, an act was passed giving residents of Eastlake Township the right to vote for members of the United States Congress. In 1865, the first street in Eastlake Township was laid out when it was annexed by Cleveland. That same year saw the opening of First National Bank and Trust Company which remains an important financial institution today. In 1870, Southeastern Electric Railway arrived in town and started serving customers east of downtown Cleveland within two years. By 1880, there were 10 businesses operating in town and over 100 people living here including many farmers who grew corn, wheat and other vegetables for local consumption or export to other parts of America during this time period During World War II, much effort went into keeping Eastlake unaffected by Japanese attack during December 7-9 1945 when Hiroshima took place; however most buildings were destroyed due to firebombing raids that followed six days later on January 6th 1945 . However some buildings such as First National Bank still stand today as well as several restaurants that are popular among locals . In 1955-1957 various plans were made for redevelopment or renovation/updates for various aspects surrounding First National Bank building but no final decisions were made until 1961 when then Mayor Arthur Ashe became involved after learning about concerns around bank functionality ; he believed that if it could be brought back up to date then it could be used more effectively as a community center instead allowing more use outside of business hours while also providing floodlights inside so parkers could play while avoiding high water tables outside ; this led eventually to eventual approval from city councilmembers which allowed extensive updates including new roofs (now gone), windows (now fish scale glass), parking lot improvements (now paved) along with relocated signage throughout entire building which included updated displays depicting restored bank facade "First National Bank Building - A Look Back" [PDF]

Eastlake was named for the first white settler, John Eastlake, who arrived in 1795. The town was founded on a tract of land that had been given to the school district by Capt. George Wright. In 1827, Eastlake became part of the newly formed Athens Township. In 1829, Athens Township was dissolved and its lands divided between several other townships. Eastlake received part of the land which later became Westview Heights. In 1892, the city of Cincinnati annexed Eastlake into its city limits. The community lost some of its population during World War II as many residents enlisted in military service and moved away to fight in Europe or Asia. However, since 1945 there has been an increase in population due to families moving back intoEastLake after leaving Cincinnati for various reasons including better economic opportunities outside of Ohio City or new opportunities within Ohio City itself such as becoming a hub for technology companies or manufacturing plants
