East Cleveland, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio that is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The population was 54,521 at the 2010 census. East Cleveland is situated on the city's north-central border with Lake Erie and borders its neighbor to the east, Cleveland, on the south and west. It also has a small unincorporated community in the northwest corner of its territory. The area now known as East Cleveland was first settled by Native Americans in what is now Cuyahoga County. In 1806, General George Washington passed through this area while touring America and named it for his birthplace of West Point, New York City. The town site was patented to Joseph Snively on November 15, 1812; but no permanent settlement took place until 1830 when nine men from Hocking Township founded a farm called "Eastville" near what is now FirstEnergy Park in downtown East Cleveland proper. In 1836, James Kapp purchased land at what would become FirstEnergy Park from his brother-in-law Nicholas Woodbridge and began developing it into an agricultural center with sawmills and other millsinery businesses. In 1840 he organized what would become the Amalgamated Clothing Manufacturers Association (ACMA) which soon became one of America's largest textile companies with plants throughout North America

East Cleveland, Ohio is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County and home to the East Cleveland Naval Shipyard. The area that now includes East Cleveland was first settled by Native Americans in the 1790s. In 1801, Captain John Henry Dunlap founded what would become East Cleveland on land he had purchased from the Lenape tribe. The town became a part of Erie County when it was formed in 1821. In 1825, President James K. Polk ordered all U.S.-owned Indian land east of the Mississippi River be ceded to England as part of the Treaty of Fort Harrison which ended the American Indian Wars. This led to increased demand for land in this area and helped create what is now Cuyahoga County—the largest county in Ohio by population at its creation—in 1827). During World War II, many manufacturing plants were built here including Chrysler and Ford Motor Company plants; these companies relocated their operations after the war to other parts of Ohio or Pennsylvania due to competition from Detroit during post-war reconstruction efforts across America. However, one successful plant (Chrysler's Toledo Assembly Plant) still stands today as one of North America's most significant auto production facilities; it employs more than 60% of all Michigan jobs within reach of Toledo thanks to a large share investment by General Motors Corporation in 2001-2005 resulting in 3,000 new jobs directly related to transmissions and engines assembly inside that plant alone since then! During economic recession years between 2007-2009 NortheastOhio employment declined 5%, while total job growth averaged just 1%. With an expected major employer shift away from heavy industry over time due largely to global competition and technological advances (manufacturing output has fallen 6% annually since 2009), attention paid lately towards saving money for future needs may have been misplaced - instead – improving infrastructure could help make our economy stronger long term! In recent decades there have been several attempts made at developing a downtown district around FirstEnergy Stadium which failed because FirstEnergy refused any financial assistance beyond platting out some parking Lots without ever having developed anything resembling an original concept or plan for how they would use those lots/facilities etcetera... until finally finally Mayor Ted Strickland came up with his vision which actually looks like something being put together rather than coming from scratch so hopefully things will get better soon!
