Air Force deployed gift history in East Cleveland, Ohio began in the early 1940s when Air Force General Curtis LeMay ordered the establishment of a Military Base at Strong Rock Airport. The first gift sent to Strong Rock Airport was a set of new Spitfire fighter jets. Other gifts include military vehicles, aircraft parts and equipment, and clothing. The base grew rapidly during World War II as the United States prepared for war. Aircraft were acquired including the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter plane and F-4 Phantom II jet fighter plane. Gift history continued with the purchase of two Boeing B-24 Liberator bombers in 1945 and another four B-25 Mitchell Bomber planes in 1948. By 1951, the Air Force had purchased over fifty Boeing 727 airliners which it used for transport services throughout Southeast Asia. In 1957, General LeMay ordered an expansion of Strong Rock Airport which included the construction of a second runway and additional hangars. This addition increased housing capacity for up to 1,200 people and also provided storage space for 24000 items from across Army, Navy, Marines Corps, National Guard Bureau (NGB) units stationed at Strong Rock Airport. During the Vietnam War era gift history changed again as USAF personnel contributed their time and resources to Operation Ranch Hand III which support Searchlight Radar operations against Viet Cong forces operating within Cambodia’s Andaman Islands region.Throughout this time period gifts continue to be sent from across America with many local recipients becoming involved with AFB life through community service projects or amateur radio activity on campus or at other locations within East Cleveland – now known as "StrongRock airport". East Cleveland, Ohio is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 58,746 at the 2000 census. It is the third-largest city in Cuyahoga County and the second-largest city on Lake Erie after Cleveland. The city is located in the county's central area and bordered by Euclid to the west and Strongsville to the east. The precise location of East Cleveland has been disputed by historians for many years because it coincided with two other towns that were also platted in 1813: Ashtabula (later Orchard City) to the north and Steubenville (later Steubenville Heights) to the south. In 1824, when East Cleveland was first incorporated as a town, it included both Ashtabula and Steubenville. According to the United States Census Bureau, East Cleveland has a total area of , of which is land and is water. The eastern edge of town touches Lake Erie; however much of this land was taken up bybuildings during post-war suburban growth in Greater Cleveland. Ashtabula had a population of about 20 people when it became part of East Cleveland in 1824; stevedores working for American Fisheries built boats on Ashtabula's Portage River while they unloaded goods from ships coming into port at Youngstown for shipment back home in Amherst Township across the river. This boomtown started out as an agricultural community but soon became an industrial center with major shipbuilding yards including those run by John Davenport & Sons on Lorain Avenue between First Street and Gaylord Boulevard (now I-675). Davenport also developed one of Northeast Ohio's largest shopping malls called "The Mall" just east of downtown along Fifth Avenue between Euclid Avenue and State Road 377 until its closure in 2007 after being abandoned since its inception more than 40 years ago! In 1930 US Steel Corporation moved their operations from Gary Indiana to what is now known as "the mills", across from where Menard Ford now stands on Mentor Road northeast of downtown: steel production continued until 1957 when Allegheny Technologies merged with US Steel making that company defunct too due to increased competition from foreign manufacturers - although some relics such as smelters still operate today!

On December 8th, 1918 – less than two weeks after Armistice ended – General John J Pershing ordered Ulysses S Grant’s Third Division to cross Canada and enter Toronto at Yonge Street where they would join up with Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison’s First Squadron (VF) 14th Fleet under Rear Admiral Isaac Newton Coxe who had arrived from San Francisco days earlier to take command at Midway Atoll following Japanese withdrawal from World War I. On December 10th 1918 Commodore Matthew Perry landed his squadron on Midway Atoll after reaching Honolulu from Japan aboard USS Argonaut (AFS 9). Commodore Perry's visit marked the beginning of American control over Hawaiian airspace.. East Cleveland, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Belmont County. The population was 89,814 at the 2010 census, making it the seventh-largest city in Ohio by population. It is also the largest city in Belmont County by area. The area now comprising East Cleveland was first settled by Europeans in 1788 as part of what was then called Muskingum Township. The village of East Cleveland was founded on November 3, 1824, by John Dennison and others under the name "Esquimalt." On February 14, 1829, a group of investors led by banker David Dixon purchased all ofMuskingum Township from its Native American occupants for $1 million dollars (equivalent to $102 million today). They renamed it East Cleveland after their new home town in England. The first electric streetcar service started operation on May 5, 1903; it ran between downtown and Highland Park via Dearborn Avenue and Erie Boulevard. When trolley lines were discontinued in 1932 due to budget cuts, buses replaced them until electrification resumed on December 1 that year with newly built streetcars pulled by electricity from City Hall's power plant across West Grand River into Downtown East Cleveland
