The Coast Guard Station operated until 1971 when it was closed and its equipment integrated into the Ohio State Police Department. In 1978, a new station Was established at Portsmouth, Ohio and this station became known as "Portsmouth". The addition of helicopters to the Coast Guards began in 1992 and these helicopters are now known as "Majestic" or "Guardian". In 2003, another new station Was established at Toledo Beach-on-the-Wash which became known as "Toledo Beach." These stations continue to provide law enforcement services along with support for other functions such as Search and Rescue missions.
