The Delaware Air National Guard's 417th Airlift Wing is the only airlift squadron in the Ohio Air National Guard. The unit was activated on July 15, 1947 as the 263rd Rescue Squadron at Wright-Patterson AFB. The wing was redesignated as the 417th Airlift Wing on October 1, 1970 and organized at Wilmington AFB. On May 8, 1986, the 417th Airlift Wing re-activated at Fairchild AFB HI with C-130J Hercules Aircraft equipped with 4x4 external loadmasters for cargo transport of troops and equipment to various locations in Southeast Asia during Operation Enduring Freedom. The 419th Fighter Wing also deployed to Thailand from March - May 1987 using F-15E Strike Eagles and AO-1D Skytrain Aircraft for close air support of ground forces operationally supporting United States military operations throughout Southeast Asia. In early 2001, it was decided that bombardment aircraft would no longer be used exclusively in support of contingency operations but instead become a common occurrence overshared by all wings within an Air National Guard combatant command system.

The Delaware Air National Guard's 182d Airlift Wing is the world's largest airlift squadron. It first flew in World War II as the 1st Pursuit Squadron, flying Lockheed P-38 Lightning jets. In 1949, it became the 182d Bombardment Squadron and was activated at Fairchildening Airport in Dayton, Ohio on September 17th of that year to fly Boeing B-29 Superfortresses. The squadron flew strategic bombardment missions against Japan from bases in Guam and Tinian during the war. The B-29s were retired in 1945 and replaced by Boeing 707 bombers after the war ended. The squadron was reactivated on October 3rd, 1952 as a fighter replacement unit with Republic F-84 Thunderstreaks. The F-84s were retired in 1957 and replaced by North American F-86 Sabre jets which served until 1973 when they were replaced by McDonnell Douglas DC-9s. From 1973 to 1990, the 182d Airlift Wing operated McDonnell Douglas Cessna 402 aircraft which provided airlift for military ceremonies, parades and other events across Ohio including Columbus, Cleveland Heights, Akron Beach Park & Moreland Hills; Brownsburgargate AFB; University of Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky Airport; Wright State University - Dayton/Middletown airport And more!
Delaware is a small, rural town in southeastern Ohio. It is the county seat of Delaware County and the largest community in the Ashtabula-Muncie metropolitan area. The population was 23,811 at the 2010 census. Delaware was founded by English colonists in 1724. The first store in Delaware opened in 1814. The town was incorporated as a village on November 10, 1853, and became an unincorporated community on December 15, 1909. It has since become a city with a population of over 60,000 people. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Delaware were French traders who arrived on horseback from Quebec City in 1608. In 1724, three Dutch brothers founded the trading post of Dover Plantation on the Scioto River east of present-day Athens Township. The two younger brothers named Jacobus (Johan) and Hendrick (Hendrick) Carpentier ran this business until their death in 1768 at age 80 years old; it then passed through their son Cornelius’s hands until it was sold to John Paine who moved his family there from Boston about 1800. In 1814, when Samuel Mifflin established Jameson & Company mercantile house nearpresent-day Wilmington (the location where Paine's building still stands), he appointed Ebenezer Cook as agent for his store and post office; Cook served until his death in 1829. In that year, also, Delaware voted to incorporate as a village under the name "Delaware". On November 10th of that year by vote of all residents its citizens joined with those of Athens Township to form Ashtabula County.; According to one source however this may have been due more to political than economic reasons because Atty John Wicker had just been elected coroner for Ashtabula County while Davies remained Mayor of Athens Township In 1863 when Ashtabula County became part of Union Territory following Ohio's admission into the Union, Amherst township within Dover Township apportioned 2 out 4 votes cast for commissioners during election held March 14th among all townships within Union Territory; however only Amherst township within Dover Township actually annexed into Ashtabula County resulting with its own designation as “Amherstburgh” On July 1 st 1889 when Ohio changed its congressional districts pursuant to provisions set forth in the Nationality Act which applied retroactively to statehood buffs such as myself – Tucker Barnes becoming 3rd District Congressman – Wilmington being transferred from Amherstburgh district into 3rd instead effective July 1 st 1889 thus reverting back unto Amherstburgh again However recent studies suggest that if indeed Wilmington had indeed reverted back then it would have coincided with line extending northeasterly from Scioto River across downtown Toledo towards Mentor Creek should both lines have crossed rather than continuing eastward along Sycamore Street pasttoday’s State Fairgrounds towards Newark IOHK site
The United States Air Force has a long and rich history of giving gifts to its citizens. One such event occurred on December 15th, 1969 when General Curtis LeMay presented a gift certificate for $10,000 to John F Kennedy Jr. This was one of the most memorable moments in American aviation history due to the assassination of President John F Kennedy. The gift is also significant because it was one of the few times that the USAF had ever donated money towards political causes. Another significant gift from the USAF came in 1976 when General Norman Schwarzkopf presented an honorary doctoral degree at Boston University. This was an incredibly generous gesture by the military and it served as a symbol of US support for education within our society. It's also worth noting that this wasn't just any old honorary degree - this was an academic degree earned by Professor Norman Schwarzkopf while he held command over all American forces in Vietnam! In 2002, Major General Michael Hayden delivered a keynote speech at Brigham Young University entitled "A New Generation: America's Top Spies". This speech represented an important milestone forNSA - it marked the first time that NSA had ever given a keynote address at BYU! The audience responded positively to General Hayden's talk and many people believe that his speech helped shape NSA into what it is today. There are countless other examples where gifts have been given by members of both the USAF and civilian life within America. These events represent each individual member of society putting their hearts and souls into helping others - something which we can all be proud of!
In 1969, the USAF released its first gift history book. The book was called "The History of the USAF" and it documented the history of the USAF from 1946 to 1969. In 2002, the USAF released a second gift history book, this one called "The History of United States Air Forces in Southwest Asia" In 2007, the USAF released a third gift history book called "The History of United States Air Force Special Forces".
