The Defiance National Guard was organized on July 1, 1903. The first national guard unit to be mobilized in Defiance County was the 111th Infantry Regiment, which arrived here on October 5, 1903. The Ohio National Guard was activated on September 15, 1907 and by January 1, 1908 had increased its strength to 119 companies. On November 3rd of that year it was reorganized into a brigade with one battalion each of artillery, infantry and cavalry units. In 1912 the brigade was changed to an regiment and in 1916 it became a corps. On May 15th of 1917 the army announced that all soldiers must report for duty or leave for six months due to World War I. As a result of this announcement the Defiance National Guard lost about two-thirds of its members as many men were called up for military service than could be recruited from within our community. To make up for this loss the National Guard offered free meals to any soldier who reported for duty during these six month enlistments period In 1921 when World War II began the Ohio National Guard grew even more powerful as it now consisted of over 50 companies divided into five battalions with an authorized strength of 1,000 men each. This growth continued through World War II with troop deployments in both Europe and Pacific theaters; however, because of budget cuts at home the organization slowly decreased until it had only 24 companies remaining by 1945. However during their time in existence they have never served less than 90 days in a row without call-up or mobilization!

Defiance is a small town in southeastern Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1816 by the Moravians and the community has since become known for its staunch support of the American Revolution. The Moravians were expelled from Ohio in 1830, but they continued to live there until their departure in 1865. In that year, Defiance became an incorporated town under the name of Toledo. In 1911, Defiance adopted its current name, which it retains to this day. The town is located on the Miami River at its confluence with the Scioto River. It has a population of about 8,500 people and covers an area of just over square miles (19 km²). Defiance is home to several colleges and universities including Kent State University and Duquesne University. As one of only two towns in Greater Cleveland that borders both Lake Erie and Detroit Lakes National Recreation Area, it also has a strong link to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

This declaration marked the beginning of what would eventually become the National Guard. From its earliest days, the National Guard was used for a variety of purposes. Initially, it was just a place where men could go when needed and not serve full time in government service like other departments (Fletcher). However, over time this changed and members began to serve their entire careers with military duty ended only when they retired from service or died (Duffy). This policy continued until 1946 when President Harry S Truman ordered all soldiers serving during World War II to remain on active duty indefinitely (Baumgartner). In addition to combatant status being automatic upon honorable discharge from military service; civilians who served with distinction receive similar benefits (Galloway). Throughout these years there has been some debate surrounding whether or not members should also receive veterans benefits since many people served multiple tours of duty and did not receive veteran status at their end point(Hansen)). Ultimately though, this decision was made by elected officials and does not affect current National Guardsmen directly(Duffy). Today’s National Guard is one ofthe most diverse groups of Americans you will ever meet. It includes both reserve components which are activated for short periods of time while awaiting call up for deployment overseas; as well as Regular Army troops who have completed their terms of enlistment but still maintain their rank/completion date within that branch(Liangjohnson)). There are even elements within law enforcement agencies that are mobilized through state emergencies including county police forces and sheriffs’ departments) (Powell-Ford & Laughlin)). These organizations play an important role in our society because they provide access to resources if needed which can include manpower or equipment if requested by authorities(Powell-Ford & Laughlin)). Additionally Gurkhas – special operations forces within Nepal – have recently arrived in America bringing with them an entirely new appreciation for America’s armed force(Mosesberg)). The national guard is constantly evolving due to changing needs and demands on society while remaining true to its roots as a group dedicatedto serviceand Patriotism!

Defiance was a town in the present-day Cincinnati, Ohio area that was founded in 1812 by Captain John C. Fremont and his men as part of the Oregon Trail. The town was named for George Defiance, an American soldier who fought in the Mexican–American War. In 1815, Defiance became a post office with mail service from Cincinnati. It had a population of about eighty people when it first metamorphosed into a town after becoming incorporated on March 4, 1816. In 1819, Defiance's first school opened and taught students grades one through twelve. A second school opened in 1825 and served grades thirteen through eighteen; both schools were eventually closed due to financial troubles. Defiance continued to grow after becoming a town; its population reached two hundred people by 1840. It grew even more rapidly during the 1830s, thanks to new transportation methods such as canals and railways that arrived in that decade. By 1840, Defiance had become one of the most important settlements in what is now Hamilton County; it also became one of Ohio's most powerful political jurisdictions because its residents voted regularly on local issues and held numerous influential positions within government. During the 1840s and 1850s, Defiance experienced several waves of immigration: Irish Catholics fleeing religious persecution in Ireland settled there during those years; Scotsmen from Fife moved to the area after experiencing British colonialism at home; Germans from Silesia established themselves hereabouts during this time; Poles from southwestern Poland settled near Sayreville (now Sammamish); Hungarians from Transylvania settled around Battle Creek (now West Union). The largest wave of Polish immigration occurred during this time when more than five thousand individuals migrated to Defiance between 1840 and 1860 – making it one of the largest groups of Polish immigrants ever encountered within Ohio! Furthermore, many Germans also immigrated during this time period – some settling permanently while others moving over short periods of time (e.g., until they could find work elsewhere). Despite these high levels of immigration however, English speakers quickly outnumbered Poles throughout much of Ohio’s early history due to higher birthrates among English-speaking Protestants throughout much northern Ohio than among Polish-speaking Catholics or Jews! The prosperity enjoyed by many members of what is now called “the Polish Conclave” in downtown Defianceduring these years likely helped contribute to their success overall despite some challenges faced by those living outside Easy Street Presbyterian Church at that time!
