The Ohio Army National Guard was deployed to Defiance, Ohio in support of the United States military on December 7, 2016. The deployment began with a mobilization and arrived in town on December 10. On December 11, 2016, the Ohio Army National Guard Regiment 322nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team relieved the Kentucky Army National Guard regiment 4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Hood. This relieved the brigade's presence in Defiance for two weeks while its soldiers were sent to Fort Hood for training. On December 15, 2016, Regimental Sergeant Major Christopher J. Wisniewski of the Ohio Army National Guard unit 122nd Mobile Battalion announced that his unit had Deployed into action again after being mobilized back in November 2016 only to be recalled due to an event that occurred just days prior which disrupted their deployment plan; this particular deployment would last 8 months instead of 6 as originally planned). On January 25 2017 it was announced that the regiment had come home from their deployment and will now continue their training cycle at Fort Knox until March 1st where they will then deploy once more to Iraq for another 2 years!

They believed that their actions demonstrated their patriotism and commitment to country over city hall bureaucrats. The Dahlgren Infantry was an infantry regiment of the Union army during the American Civil War. The regiment was organized on November 3, 1861, in response to the U.S. declaration of war by South Carolina. The regiment was mustered into Union service on December 15, 1861. The regiment fought in the Battle of First Bull Run and at Antietam. The regiment also fought in the Battle of Fredericksburg and at Appomattox Court House. Afterward, it served in various campaigns including Chattanooga–Dahlgren Campaign and Wilderness Campaign. In 1865, the unit surrendered at Appomattox Court House.
Defiance was a town in Defiance County, Ohio, United States. The population was 569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Defiance County was James Dixon in 1814. He and his family were followed by other pioneer families over the next several years. In 1821, Daniel Boone discovered and named a creek after himself, which led to much local speculation about who he may have been associated with. A group of men from Defiance founded the First Baptist Church in 1825. During the 1830s and 1840s, farmers began to arrive conformable to Ohio law rather than relying on Indian assistance for their subsistence operations. This demandedorter workforce resulted in increased prices for goods necessary for everyday life such as food and clothing; this also forced many residents to migrate away from their homes for economic reasons. As a result of this trend,Defiance became an important commercial center during the early 19th century. In 1846, when Ohio statehood ceremonies were celebrated statewide, Defiance's citizens sent delegates to attendinya celebration at Mansfield Hall on behalf of all of northwestern Ohio (the event was conducted by Governor John Paulding). The townspeople voted unanimously to secede from Summit County and form their own county under the new state government On November 15th of that year due to popular demand, a constitutional convention meeting chaired by Judge Augustus Ewing took place at City Hall in downtown Defiance as well as committee rooms throughout the community with resolutions passed authorizing secession including one calling for “an immediate Legislature” session within five days immediately following inauguration so that signatures could be collected documenting defection After weeks of discussion it was decided that violence would not be used against either party leading some people to believe there might even be bloodshed but no significant incidents occurred until March 3rd when two commissioners appeared before a crowd estimated at 1000 people and read riotous threatening letters delivered through intermediaries asking them not vote against secession if they wanted their property back On March 10th Commissioners met again with more deputies brought in reinforcements ordering everyone out into streets whereupon shots were fired resulting in three dead bodies being found along with twenty seven wounded including nine who later died from their injuries One resident said "I thought I saw George Washington across the street" witnesses say an unknown person ran into nearby bushes firing shots while fleeing authorities arrived Claimant is still unknown
