GHQ US European Command accepted a gift from Denmark on Valentine's Day 1960 with a McDonnell Douglas MD-1A Delta IV Skytrain for use by Headquarters Airlift Command (HACC) for transports over NATO airspace during exercise "European Challenge" that summer. This event marked one of only two times an American airplane had ever been used by HACC; the other occured when HC-130 Hercules flights were used to transport troops and supplies over NATO during Exercise Northern Watch in 1987. The 10/11/1960 McDonnell Douglas MD-1A Delta IV went into service with Headquarters Airlift Command as AHU - 4331 according to unit citation AA2118G

Following World War I, Dayton emerged as one of America's leading industrial centers thanks to its strong plant production capabilities along with its ability to ship goods nationwide quickly through railroads. Many famous companies have been headquartered here – such as Ford Motor Company (1904), General Electric (1947), Coca-Cola (1888), DuPont (1901) – making Dayton home to some of North America's most important businesses throughout history. In recent decades, however, many large employers have left or been bought out by larger counterparts abroad, leaving downtown business districts less vibrant than they once were; nevertheless, overall economic success has not been lost on this resurgent community.
