Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio is a city in the western part of the United States. The population was 71,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The name "Cuyahoga" comes from Huron word Kwaita meaning "the falls." The first permanent European settlement in what is now Cuyahoga Falls was made by Andrew Jackson and his soldiers as they traveled through this area during the Seminole War in 1813. Jackson named it for General John Wayne's father-in-law, James Kieft, who had settled near present-day Cleveland. The first skyscraper in Cleveland was built on Euclid Avenue and First Street in 1908 (now Quicken Loans Arena). In 1912, Cleveland Mayor John Denny created a new ward called East Side which included most of downtown and much of today's west side including parts of University Circle and Lake Erie Boulevard east of Euclid Avenue. This ward was abolished in 1922 when Cleveland City Limits were expanded to include all of downtown as well aslying neighborhoods on both sides of Superior Street northward to Lorain Avenue. In 1927, construction began on the Fox River Navigation Company's cataract Dam at Mud Creek which forms Cuyahoga Falls within its bounds and formed one half of what would become Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's Ravenna Line after Ravenna Township merged into Cuyahoga County with other schools and services within Ravenna Township becoming available to everyone within that boundaries. The dam also newly irrigated land adjacent to Mud Creek making it possible for major crops such as corn, beans, rice and soybeans to be grown there starting in 1929; these crops gave rise to nearby residential areas such as Arlington Heights near the riverfront while central business district development took place along State Road 9W across from IQech Stadium south of Mud Creek Bridge continuing until about 1970s when large industrial tracts took over around current day I-271/I-75 interchange just west of where IQech Stadium currently stands

Today,Cleveland is home to some of the world's largest metropolitan areas – both in terms of population size and economic clout – and Cuyahoga Falls remains an important cultural hub in northwestern Ohio.
The Cuyahoga Falls Massacre took place on October 25, 1814, when a group of Ohio Tories led by Captain John Bargain killed six of the seven Native Americans who had been living in the area. The massacre is considered one of the most infamous events in American history.
