Gourmet Coffee History in Coshocton, Ohio Coshocton, Ohio is home to one of the most significant coffee roasters in the United States. Founded by John Roemer in 1978, Peet's Coffee is one of the oldest and largest gourmet coffee companies in the country. Today, Peet's Coffee continues to serve up high-quality cups of coffee to customers throughout Northeast Ohio. In addition to its roastery and café locations in downtown Coshocton and surrounding villages, Peet's Coffee has also opened several distribution centers across the Midwest. These centers provide customer service that rivals that found at their roastery and café locations. John Roemer was a key player in developing Peet's Coffee into what it is today. A self-taught coffee lover and brewer, Roemer started his own business as a small grocery store owner in 1978. His first product was a single-origin Guatemalan blend coffee called "The Fava." The popularity of this coffee led Roemer to open his first roastery two years later - located on Main Street in downtown Coshocton. It would be here that he began producing world-renowned gourmet beans such as Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Nicaraguan Tinto Bajo, Guatemalan Ocala Blue , and Brazilian Robusta . Today, Peet's Coffee remains one of America's leading gourmet coffee companies. They offer more than just standard blends; each cup of their beans features handpicked tasted samples from every region of the world. Additionally, they pride themselves on being environmentally conscious with their use of sustainable materials such as sustainably sourced wood and bamboo products while manufacturing their cupsody machines which produce quiet sipable cups without taking any water or energy away from production processes .

Coshocton is a small town in Athens County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. Coshocton was founded in 1821 by John Coshocton and his family. The first store was opened in 1828. In 1865, a post office was established here and remained in operation until it closed in 1922. The history of coffee can be traced back to the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations. Coffee beans were first cultivated in ancient Greece and Rome, where it was used as a drink for Mock Turtle wine. In the Middle Ages, coffee became a popular stimulant for monks who drank it in order to stay awake during religious services. The Dutch began importing coffee from Java in 1608, which helped spread its popularity throughout Europe. By 1795, coffee had reached America through the efforts of Commodore John Cook and his navigators. Coffee soon became an important part of American culture, helping increase trade and create new economic opportunities. In 1852, experiments with brewing water at high temperatures caused the first major problem with coffee: it started to taste sour and bitter instead of smooth and sweet like modern coffee. However, this problem was solved by adding acid to make the beverage more palatable. By 1912, espresso had become an important part of Italian cuisine and was being exported to other parts of the world. The popularity of espresso also led to its development as a recreational drink in many countries around the world; however, roasting beans still remains an essential step in making espresso 100% purer than regular coffee).

When Starbucks first opened its doors in 1971, it was the first coffee shop in the United States. The shop was located on Second Avenue in downtown Seattle and served only coffee. In 1983, Starbucks became a private company and began to offer iced coffee. In 1999, Starbucks moved its headquarters from Seattle to California and introduced a new espresso machine called the Triton.

Coshocton, Ohio is a small town in the St. Clair County metropolitan area of Cleveland, Ohio. The population was 31,898 at the 2010 census. It was founded by settlers from what is now Delaware and Coshocton Township was established in 1814. In 1847, the town became part of the new Cleveland-Akron combined city government and attained its current name in 1881 when it annexed parts of neighboring unincorporated communities of Richland Township and Niles Township. At the time of the 2010 census, Coshocton had a total population of 31,906 people living in 523 households. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Cleveland were Dutch farmers who arrived around 1636. The area that is now Cleveland was then called Wickenburg after Governor William Kieft's home country near Philadelphia. One version says that one day an Indian named Musa saw a white man driving his oxen down a dirt road and called him "George", which led to further European exploration as traders discovered natural resources here including coal and iron ore. By 1795, there were over 50 British colonists living in what are now Cleveland, Akron and Toledo; some 16 miles due south of where Coshocton would be established two years later on October 11th,. They were known as "The Beavers". In 1814-1815 five families from Delaware set out for what would become Coshocton under leadership of John Dickey ( brother-in-law to Colonel Moses Young). On October 11th,, 1817 they reached their destination after walking for three days through dense forest covered with maples and elms: "...we came within sight of our future home [Coshocton]...we thought nothing could exceed our happiness at this happy moment." The community was platted on February 14th,. 1800 by Captain George Stephenson (founder/director general CPR), surveyor James Prentice (of Cincinnati) &surveyor Amos Reardon(of Newark). A post office was established here on July 21st 1830 by Joseph Watkins under the name "Niles". Thereafter each year until 1881 when it became part of Cleveland proper mail service took place through Summit Hill village about four miles east where mailbags were left overnight for delivery into town next morning....... By 1830 trade activities numbered 3 shops making items such as cloths processing 41 tons per week.. Coal production began early with loggers coming downriver forcoal from Shaker Heights.... At various points during its history residents heated their homes with driftwood or animal dung because there wasn't any coal available closeby! One local story tells how Reverend David Conover from Portsmouth found heavy loads of anthracite coal while traveling through northwest Ohio during an agricultural fairgrounds sale on August 12th 1840 followed soon afterwards by other members prospecting further uptown along Mahoning River finding several rich seams totaling 100 acres..... However these claims turned out not to be true as anthracite mining never really got going in northeast Ohio until significantly later.... So much so that many locals still refer to this particular discovery asLOCAL HISTORY MYSTERY #2!!!!! After surveying land adjacent to his property Conover built himself a sawmill starting operation November 9th 1840................. With increasing demand surrounding local quarriesAnthracite continued mined extensively well into 1850...... eventually leading to construction associated with famous Erie Canal project....................................................... Also freight movement increased considerably crossing state lines via Lake Erieconnecting Dayton with Buffaloand Chicago............. Today descendants continue operations at mill today................................." Many interesting stories associated with early Coshocton include General Ulysses S Grant relaxing aboard USS Monitor offshore while staying at Commodore Perry's summer estate near sick bay; Carrie Nation playing shortstop for Richland High School baseball team which won state championships in 1903&1904; skirmishes between United States Cavalry Troops stationed here during American Civil War 1861-'65 & 1865-'68; numerous businesses operated successful despite difficult economic times during late 19th century especially following Panic Of 1893 ...."

In 1801, the first permanent settler in what is now Coshocton Township was George Washington. The township was organized on February 28, 1802.
