The United States Army has been deployed to various locations in the world for over three centuries. One of the longest deployments was in Coshocton, Ohio during World War II. The city played a significant role in the war as it was home to the largest military installation in the Midwest, Camp Overbey. The camp hosted 3 million troops and civilians from across the country. In 1945, Camp Overbey was closed due to budget cuts and its operations were transferred to Fort Knox in Kentucky. Until 1970, when it was reopened as one of three post-9/11 Army installations, Fort Knox served as home to both Headquarters Company (HHC) 8th Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 2nd Battalion (27th Infantry), and 1st Brigade Combat Team (3rd Infantry Division). Today, HHC 8th Infantry Regiment (Airborne) is based at Fort Knox while 2nd Battalion 27th Infantry is stationed at Ft Hood Texas; 1st Brigade Combat Team 3rd Infantry Division is headquartered at Ft Polk Louisiana; and Headquarters Company 4th Cavalry Regiment remains stationed at Camp Overbey. It was organized at Camp Chase near Cincinnati and arrived in October 1892. The unit served with distinction during the Mexican-American War and then participated in the Civil War. After the war, members of the regiment were mustered out and returned home in December 1865. However, because Coshocton was located on Kentucky soil and not Ohio, they did not technically disband until 1892. In 1902, an additional detachment of soldiers arrived in town to serve as guards for a new courthouse. This detachment continued to be stationed here until 1916 when it moved to Auburn, Indiana. In 1918, another detachment consisting of infantry units arrived here from Huntington Heights, Indiana and served until 1919 when they left for duty overseas. From 1921 through 1927 there was also an Army Reserve battalion stationed here garrisoning equipment used by local police departments while awaiting shipment back home on completion of their tours of duty. This battalion became inactive after its deployment but remained parked here until 1978 when it finally left for good citing budgetary restrictions stemming from budget cuts made within DOD itself nationally. Coshocton, Ohio is a small city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Coshocton County. The population was 19,912 at the 2010 census, which makes it the smallest county in Ohio by population. The name "Coshocton" comes from an Iroquois word meaning "echo-time". The town's original residents were part of what is now Huron County. In 1836, John Stephenson founded the village of Coshocton on the Scioto River near present day Portsmouth. When Stephenson moved his settlement to its current location in 1838, he named it after his hometown of Coshocton (now Cleveland). The first store opened in Coshocton on November 12, 1837 and became a political power center during the early days of local government when it served as both a stop for stagecoaches and as a place where citizens could buy goods they would need while living near Portsmouth or Canton. By 1840, however, business had dwindled and most residents had left for other towns within minutes of downtown Coshocton. A new store opened on Main Street in 1845 and continued to be successful until 1893 when it burned down due to arson by young people who thought it was fun to set fires in town square at night. In 1865, Jno Pugh established himself as one of America's leading attorneys with office located just outside town limits next to what is now State Route 519/Summit Road NE; Pugh used this property as his law&civil engineering clinic until his death in 1978. After being abandoned for many years following Pugh's death, development began around Summitside Drive NE near State Route 519/Summit Road NE between 1979 and 1984 which led to increased traffic congestion that has resulted in environmental harm since the 1990s including loss of trees along Summit Road NE across from Interstate 775; more recently there have been plans by developers for residential development adjacent to I-77 Exit 131A but no progress has been made yet COSHOKTON INDUSTRIES LIMITED was formed on January 1st 1912 by three friends: Wm Hargrave (manager), Fenton Gray ( salesman) & Orville Freeman ( engineer). It conducted research into improving agricultural methods & produced feedgrain products such as corn meal & soybean oilseed rapeseed while also selling hardware supplies such as saw blades etc.. This company prospered until 1916 when WW1 started & production ceased because war interfered with exports schedules affecting farmers all over America so much that prices plummeted 50%! Mr Hargrave did manage some sales activities during these years tho... Irving Krieger restarted operations at Home Depot Tulsa OK back on April 1st 1950th under new management consisting mainlyof Eddy Borenstein(president), Irving Krieger(vice president), Norman Schwarzkopf(director) & Everett Mintz(director). They closed their doors again on October 8th 1970th due totrailways Strike rocking retail sales world wide! Coshocton is a small town in Morrow County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,993 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Coshocton was first settled by German immigrants in 1812. John Hesseltine donated land to the community for a Methodist church and school. In 1836, Reverend David Doeren founded what is now Coshocton Township and Cemetery Company. The village began as a small farming community with only 10 residents in 1850. By 1870, however, the population had increased to 150 people and by 1900 it had reached 2,000 people. The local lumber industry played an important role inEarly Coshocton development. In 1861-1865 Jens Petersen became the owner of the first sawmill in Coshocton and operated it until he sold it to Jens Nielsen Jr., who continued to operate it until 1913. The mill produced timber for many homes and businesses in early Coshocton including Hesseltine's Methodist Church which still stands today (). In 1927-1928 Wm Slocum builtthe first tractor dealership in Northeast Ohio (). After his death in 1951 his son William Slocum II took over operations of the dealership from his father (). Today there are three tractor dealerships located throughout Northeast Ohio - one each located at Lima (Ohio), North Canton (Ohio), and Youngstown/Warren (Ohio). This type of economy grew during World War II when aluminum production increased around the region due to Allied bombing raids on Germany (). Many local farmers became involved with aluminium production through manufacturing or contracting jobs during this time (). This led to new waves of Germans moving into Local communities such as Coshocton as they could find work opportunities outside of their home country (. As a result of this migration many fine homes were replaced with factories or other types of industrial plants). Today much of what made early Cushctonia an economic powerhouse has been lost; however its legacy can be seen throughout many aspects of life here such as its strong community spirit (), its tight-knit family environment (), its historical landmarks (), and most importantly its vibrant agricultural heritage which still plays a big role today ().
