Conneaut is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Conneaut Township was George Hinkle. A post office called Conneaut was established in 1814, and remained in operation until 1827. The central square of the town is named after Benjamin Franklin Conneaut, an early resident and delegate to the United States Congress from Ohio. In 1830, Andrew Jackson elected as Mayor of Cleveland John Knopper with 71% of the vote. In 1834, Mayor John Knopper resigned due to illness and was replaced by James Dolan who won with 73% of the vote. In 1840, Mayor Dolan resigned again due to illness and was replaced by Michael Moriarty who won with 75%. “In 1840...Michael Moriarty (75%) became mayoralty candidate for second time when incumbent James Dolan (71%) decided not to seek re-election after four years as mayor’s office” On July 15th 1907 a tornado touched down near Conneaut killing one person and injuring thirteen others

Conneaut, Ohio is a small town located in Geauga County, Ohio, part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The population was 2,569 at the 2010 census. It is home to the Conneaut Historical Museum and civic center, as well as several businesses and schools. The first people to live in Conneaut were the Potters who settled there in 1812. In 1815-1816, John Potter built a log cabin on his farmstead which still stands today. The first school in Conneaut was established in 1817 when Rev. James Haggerty took charge of an academy for children from rural districts withinGeauga County. A new schoolhouse was built on the present site of the museum in 1902 by Mrs. Fannie Maitland Brown with help from her husband Lewis Brown and other citizens of Conneaut and neighboring townships. In 1907, members of the local board of education founded Great Lakes Normal School (later known as Stroudsburg University). That same year saw also the opening of First Presbyterian Church which remains standing today as one of Conneauth's two churches (the other being First Methodist). With rapid growth during World War II due to munitions production at nearby Willow Run Arsenal, many homes were constructed along US-24 just east of town while others were built on land that now forms part of Parkside Park off US-24 near Bridgeport Township In 1968, voters approved a $10 million bond issue to build a new high school and daycare facility adjacent to Main Street Elementary School; this project resulted in construction starting in 1969 and finishing three years later The current name given to Conneaut by its founders - "Connie" - came about because they wanted everyone who used it to know it was their town not simply Toledo’s or Cleveland’s (known then as Scioto County). As time passed residents started referring to themselves collectively as "The Connie's". People living outside township limits rented property just east side Main Street between 1964-1966 so that when taxes for those areas went up residents had their say about whether or not “The Connie’s” shouldAHaveto pay additional taxes since much property had been sold without their knowledge or consent . After much discussion considerate actions were taken by trustees resulting In only 3% increase assessed value against township values . This showed how important it is for everyone involved with making things happen here that we all appreciate each other no matter where we are located
Conneaut was a small settlement in the Miami Valley, Ohio, United States. It was first settled by fur traders in the late 18th century and its early history is unknown. In 1811, Conneaut was called "The Happy Village" by settlers because of its good location for trading with the Native Americans. The village had a post office from 1817 to 1830 and several stores before it merged with neighboring Minerva to form Minerva Township in 1839. The township became part of Lucas County, Ohio, in 1850.
