The history of the Conneaut, Ohio Army National Guard is a long and complicated one. The unit was originally organized in 1808 as the Second Regiment of Foot Guards, an infantry regiment that served in the War of 1812. In 1862, the National Guard was redesignated as the 3rd Brigade, Ohio Infantry. In 1916, it was renamed to 1st Brigade, Ohio Infantry and in 1940 it became 2nd Brigade, Ohio Infantry. The brigade served in World War II with distinction before being disbanded in 1946. The Conneaut Army National Guard currently consists of three battalions: Battalion A (9th Regiment), Battalion B (10th Regiment), and Battalion C (5th Regiment). Each battalion has a total strength of about 350 individuals. There are also two aviation units: Squadron E (5th Aviation Battalion) and Squadron K (3rd Aviation Battalion). These units are responsible for providing support to various military operations throughout eastern Ohio. Additionally, there is a command post located at Camp Chase which provides administrative support to battalions and aviation units as well as training subordinate commanders on how to conduct military operations. The overwhelming majority of army gift history takes place within battalion organizations such as those found at battalion headquarters or squadron commands; however, individual members may also be associated with Gifts from Brothers Into Friendliness or any number of other organizations that have been included herein without specific citation or explanation. The Conneaut army gift history can be traced back to 1881. At that time, the town of Conneaut was founded on the Scioto River in what is now Findlay Township. The first military unit to be organized in Conneaut was the Cavalry Regiment, which metamorphosed into Company A of the Third Ohio Infantry on December 10, 1881. On November 25, 1882, a detachment from Company A participated in the unsuccessful defense of Fort Pitt against an attack by Indian forces. In 1886, Company A was redesignated as Battalion E and became part of Brigade GUSF (1st Infantry) during its affiliation with the 1st Infantry Division. The battalion served as garrison troops at Washington Barracks until it was disbanded in 1907. In 1912-1913, Battalion E again served as garrison troops at Washington Barracks before being redesignated as Artillery Battalion D (2nd Indiana). That same year, it joined Brigade GUSF (1st Infantry) and became Battery B (Artillery), serving with that division until it disbanded in 1917-1920. In 1921-1922, Battalion D rejoined Brigade GUSF (1st Infantry) and remained there until it disbanded on January 1, 1923. From 1923-1927, Artillery Battalion D reorganized and reformed under command of Major General John Ladd who served with that battalion during World War II. During its existence as artillery battalion D (2nd Indiana), Bty also furnished fire support for American ground forces engaged in combat against Nazi Germany near Rome Italy on September 9-10 1944; Trier Germany on October 15; Okinawa Japan on April 6 1945; Bridge over Rhine near Wesel Luxembourg May 5 1945; Schweinfurt Germany July 12 1945; and Berlin Germany October 14 1945 as part of United States Army Ninth Army Group’s occupation force after German capitulation. On January 1, 1948 Headquarters Battery within Artillery Battalion D reverted to original name “Company A” within Artillery Regiment USARV(3rd Armored Cavalry) becoming one component thereof Mjolnir Alloys Incorporated which continued operations until disbanding effective June 30th following company's move from Toledo OH to Independence MO
Conneaut is a small town in Findlay County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is the home of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Conneaut Arts and Crafts Museum. The first European to visit Conneaut was French Jesuit Father Pierre-Simon La Salle on September 4, 1796. He named it "New France" after his patron saint, France. The name stuck and Conneaut became an agricultural center with extensive land holdings by early American settlers including Nicholas Halleck in 1800 and Samuel Morse in 1813. In 1824, Ulysses S Grant landed at river mouth on this site to survey the new Erie Canal for the United States government as part of his Overland Expedition; he named the town Grantsville after him. In 1840, General James K. Polk visited Conneaut on his way from Warsaw via Cleveland to take possession of Florida Territory; he called it "Polkville". When the Ohio Terminal Railroad was built through downtown in 1851, Grantville lost its importance as a commercial center but became a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty and wide variety of cultural attractions such as art galleries (such as The Art Institute of Chicago), botanical gardens (which are now part of University Circle), amusement parks (e.g., Universal opened in 1901), and golf courses (including Augusta National). In 1925-1926, during World War II many farmers went into production using synthetic fertilizers which caused huge amounts of nitrate pollution that affected both residential areas near Lackawanna Lake upstream from Conneaut proper as well as outlying areas surrounding Interstate 81 north of town; these effects were most noticeable around Woodward Avenue between Lackawanna Boulevard and I-81 where there are large walkways filled with high levels of nitrate pollution from fertilizer plants operated by Dow Chemical Company until they closed down in 1984 following federal regulations against discharge into waterbodies without consent from their owners/users; today those same locations still have significant levels ofnitrate pollution fromstracted sources including agriculture although less direct because most nutrients come downgradient through groundwater or soil rather than being released into lakes or rivers like they did before." This issue has been addressed by various organizations working together since then such as Waterkeeper Alliance which formed in 2003 to improve water quality on both sides of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky Rivers through education & public engagement projects targeting agribusinesses & industrial users along with mapped impacted watershed area

Conneaut, Ohio is a village in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncy Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Conneaut was Nicholas Goffe who arrived in 1795. He built a cabin on the banks of the Cuyahoga River and named it after his home town of Coventry, England. A post office called Goffe was established in 1802, and remained in operation until 1872. In 1836, John Elder bought land at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River from Nicholas Goffe for $1 million dollars. Elder erected a log cabin and named it Conneaut after his birthplace of Conventon, England. The village became an incorporated town on December 17, 1837. In 1886, local businessman George Naylor donated 5 acres (20 km²) to build a new courthouse and jail which served as both villages' seats for about twenty years until their merger on October 1st 1988 into one municipality under one government structure On July 6th 1920 construction began on what would become the world's largest concrete-and-steel bridge when two sections were interconnected by an 825-foot (240 m) long girder bridge over the Cuyahoga River at State Route 38 near downtown Conneaut. At its opening ceremony on November 16th 1920 it had been estimated that up to 50% of all traffic crossing Lake Erie through Cleveland had passed through this single piece of engineering wonder since its construction
Conneaut was founded in 1795 by Captain John Conneaut and his wife Sarah. They named their settlement after the conch shell that they found on the river's bank. The first post office was established in 1800, and the community grew rapidly. By 1825, Conneaut had a population of over 100 people. In 1828, ConneauT built the first gristmill in Ohio. The mill continued to be used until 1951 when it was replaced by a more modern facility. The town prospered during the late 19th century due to its location at the mouth of the Maumee River and its access to raw materials from miles away. However, by 1920, industry had declined and most residents left for larger towns downstream or elsewhere in Ohio. In 1952, Conneaut became part of Price County when Price merged with Lucas County. Since then, it has been an unincorporated community within Price County
