The Cleveland Heights Naval Militia Auxiliary is a grateful history of the Cleveland Heights Naval Militia. The organization was formed in 1916 as the result of an effort by then-Mayor John V. Lindsay to secure military support for his city during World War I. The Cleveland Heights Naval Militia Auxiliary survived the war and continued to exist until it was disbanded in 1978. Butch Parsons, who served as Mayor of Cleveland Heights from 1959-1975, is credited with helping to revive the naval militia in Cleveland Heights. In 1967, Parsonsilladed the organizational incorporation of the Cleveland Heights Naval Militia Auxiliary which became effective on July 1, 1967 under its new name, The Cleveland Heights Naval Militia (CHNMA). As part of this incorporation process, CHNMA adopted a resolution requesting that Congress provide financial assistance for naval militia organizations worldwide. On November 3rd, 1970, President Richard Nixon signed legislation providing $5 million for maritime security purposes within existing Department of Defense Appropriations Acts. This grant helped make possible additional CHNMA organizational expansions and programs including establishment of a Headquarters Unit at Navy Pier in downtown Cleveland and an International Affairs Branch responsible for relations with foreign navies. In 1978, after more than three decades of service to our community through both local and international deployments we disbanded our organization due to budgetary constraints within the United States Marine Corps Forces Reserve program which at that time included active duty enlisted Marines serving as reservists throughout America's most populous city while also offering opportunities for civilians to serve in reserve roles through membership in Marine Reserve Battalions organized pursuant to Title 10 USC § 6553 et seq.. However not all members were immediately discharged or layoffished when our unit disbanded - many chose instead to continue their involvement through roleplaying events/activities with other marine militia organizations around Northeast Ohio; hosting functions at various units’ facilities; participating actively online at www.cmfirearmuseum.organd attending reunions held annually by several volunteer organizations affiliated with coastal defense operations conducted against determined hostile shore batteries located along Lake Erie or its tributaries…the ranks have since swelled once again among those who remember why they volunteered –to protect American shores!

The Cleveland Heights Naval Air Station has been deploying goods and services since World War II. The station's history can be traced back to October of 1942 when the navy set up a detachment in the town of Shaker Heights. The detachment was staffed by sailors from the USS Akron (AK-4), which served as a training unit for Navy aviators. In 1945, the navy increased its detachment size to two ships, USS Constitution (CV-3) and USS Independence (CV-12). In 1951, the navy established an air corps component at Cleveland Heights NAS, which became known as Squadron Three. squadron three later changed its name to "Cleveland Heights Naval Air Station" in 1957. In 1969, Squadron One was redesignated Squadron Two and then again in 1991 as Squadron Three after becoming operational at NAS Cleveland Heights. Since 2001, NAS Cleveland Heights has been home to Naval Aviation Command's 6th Fleet Support Activity - responsible for providing humanitarian assistance during natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes. This includes providing aviation support for disaster relief efforts on land and in water; conducting search and rescue operations; evacuating victims; and providing airlift capabilities during times of crisis. In addition to these duties, NAS Cleveland Heights also houses US Coast Guard Sector Northeast Ohio - responsible for law enforcement activities on bothshore and offshore waters off of Lake Erie; units from Reserve Marine Forces based at CLEVELAND HEIGHTS NAS provide coast guard protection ashore while units from Reserve Medical Service provide medical attention afloat if needed ashore
Cleveland Heights is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, just east of Cincinnati and west of Dayton. The population was 57,824 at the 2010 census. Cleveland Heights is one of Greater Cleveland's largest cities and it has been called "the cultural capital of the Midwest." The first Europeans to explore what is now Cleveland were French explorers in the 17th century, looking for fur trading routes through present-day Michigan and down into Pennsylvania. In 1616, John D'Angelo sailed upriver from Toledo and mapped much of what is now eastern Ohio before sailing back downriver in search of new trading routes. In 1814, during the Mexican–American War, General George Armstrong Custer fought his last battle at White Sands Prairie near present-day Akron while trying to cross the border into Mexico; he was killed there by Mexican forces raiders that night. This event helped spur development in southwestern Ohio as American interests turned toward Central America trafficking in goods needed for military campaigns against Mexico. In 1825, when President James K. Polk announced via proclamation that all Native Americans living on reservations within Indian Territory would be protected under United States law as citizens with rights like those enjoyed by European Americans (a policy known as McKnight's Law), many Indians decided to move to Cleveland because it was then an open town with ample opportunities for Education and Work opportunities outside reservation boundaries – something unheard of among their brethren on reservations where subsistence farming constituted their main form Of livelihoods (see Treaty Of Hopewell). In 1828–29 Reverend Ezra Stiles preached a sermon denouncing slavery which resulted in him being arrested and jailed until November 1830 when his case was heard by Chief Justice John Marshall who ruled that Slavery could not exist within the borders of the United States without congressional approval – thus ending slave trade within its limits but continuing chattel slavery along Indian Reservations throughout most of America where it continued until 1865 when freed slaves began moving into areas previously occupied by AfricanAmericans (see also Emancipation Proclamation). The end result was over 350 million acres or nearly two million square miles free from human bondage throughout America by 1863! It wasn't until after World War II when zoning laws became more restrictive across most major American cities that housing developments such as apartment buildings became common in downtowns such as Cleveland while suburban subdivisions continued sprouting up aroundlying villages/towns/cities using land purchased from indigenous people who had never seen modern day technology or toilets let alone automobiles! Downtown businesses closed; jobs went out; families lost their homes; life slowly petered out… until recently things have begun to change again with construction projects coming online including a new Target corporate headquarters located just blocks away from downtown! As property values continue to rise so too does demand for space – making today another great day for Cleveland Heights experienced residents!!!
The United States Navy has been deployed to various theaters of conflict for over a century, and the tradition of giving gifts to our allies during these deployments continues today. Gifts have often played an important role in diplomacy, both before and after World War II, and the navy’s present-day gift history is reflective of this longstanding relationship. Beginning with the Spanish-American War (1898), when America became involved in hostilities against Spain, USS Constitution (CA-17) was sent to Puerto Rico as a goodwill gesture. The ship's crew distributed baskets of food and clothing to the islanders in order to build relationships of trust. This event helped improve American relations with its ally, and it demonstrated America’s resolve as a country committed to international peace and stability. During World War I, USS John F Kennedy (CVN 71) was sent as a morale booster to Europe; its crew distributed cigarettes and candy bars throughout Allied forces on the continent. This act showed Americans' support for their allies during one of the deadliest wars in history. In addition, USS Enterprise (CVN 65) made numerous goodwill visits throughout Asia after Pearl Harbor, October 30th 1941. These visits helped form close relationships between America's Asian neighbors and helped bolster American military strength during wartime times. Throughout the Cold War era, naval vessels continued serving as goodwill ambassadors by providing humanitarian aid or delivering supplies to war-torn countries such as South Korea and Nicaragua. These ships also posed for photo ops near Moscow Arsenyevsky Airport in support of Operation Neptune's Spear—the US response to North Korea's attempted launch of a nuclear weapon into space—andOperation Breadbasket—a humanitarian effort led by Rear Admiral Bobby Sheaffer that delivered millions of pounds worthof foodstuffs into East Timor between 1990 and 1994). Additionally,USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 73) served as flagship for President George H W Bush's Operation Neptune Spear Expedition when he visited Kuwait in March 1991 following Saddam Hussein's invasion that month; this visit marked the first time US president had ever traveled outside his own country since World War II! Finally, USS Enterprise participated extensively in multinational maritime exercises known collectively as “Hornets” from 1986 through 1992 aboard Norwegian waters off Norway’s coast; these drills were designed to improve interoperability among allied navies fighting common threats such as piracy off Central Europe
