The Cleveland Heights Air Force Deployed Gift History Museum is a nonprofit organization that has been in operation since 2004. The museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the USAF’s deployment gift history in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The museum features over 60 items from the USAF’s deployed gift history in Cleveland Heights, as well as displays on military history and culture. The AFB deploys gifts to branches and units of the military across America every year. Each branch and unit has their own unique story associated with deployments and gifts given by AFCW members. The museum houses items from both recent deployments (1998-2002) and older deployments (1942-1994). The AFB deployed gifts to many different branches and units during its time in Cleveland Heights. A number of items have been preserved specifically for the AFB Deployed Gift History Museum in commemoration of its deployment gift history here in Cleveland Heights. One example of an AFB deployed gift is a historical radio telescope known as “the Jansky Telescope” which was gifted to the local school system by AFCW members Bob Singer and Don Fluke during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Another example is a World War II era radar station which was donated to the city by AFCW member Herb Cooley during Operation Crossroads in 1945. Many otherDeployment gifts are on display at the museum, such as an American football jersey from Operation Iraqi Freedom, a fighter jet engine from Operation Enduring Freedom, or even a combat helmet from Desert Storm! The AFB deploys gifts not only for our local branches andunits but also for Joint Forces Commands throughout America! This displays how much we support our country abroad through giving back here at home! The Squadron Support Award recipient at last year's Army/Air Force Christmas parade was an AFB deployment gift - this years' recipient will be announced soon!
