Clayton, Ohio is a small town located in the heart of the U.S. Midwest and has been inhabited by humans for over 10,000 years. The first potters were born in this area and their tools were used to make cups, bowls, mugs, and other everyday items. Coffee was not introduced to Clayton until after World War II when soldiers stationed here started bringing back coffee beans from Europe. Afterward, some local farmers began roasting their own coffee and selling it door-to-door. By the early 1960s, Clayton had become a thriving community with its own artisan coffee shop called The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! In 1977, the city of Toledo established a municipally owned coffee company which continued to operate The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf until 1995 when it was sold to Van Houten’s Coffee Company of Columbus OH. Today, Van Houten’s Coffee Company continues to roast and sell artisan coffee products in Clayton under the name of “The OC Fair Trade Café”. Clayton is home to many different types of artisans who produce various types of crafts including artists who create jewelry, potters who make bowls and plates, woodcarvers who carve wooden furniture or totem poles, weavers who make cloth goods such as robes or shawls etc., quilters who create intricate embroidery designs on clothing or fabric scraps etc., carpet designers who design beautiful woven flooring pieces etc., sculptors whose pieces are made out of cast iron or concrete and can be found at public displays or private homes etc., photographers whose equipment is used to capture stunning images of individuals working in their craft) There are also several restaurants that serve up delicious artisan food items such as TheOCFairTradeCafé (which serves up espresso drinks made with whole beans roasted in-house), Frenchman's Table (a French cuisine restaurant serving dishes like steak frites with béarnaise sauce and eggs benedict), Tracey's Bakery (an oven-baked bakery that offers unique cupcakes/tarts/croissants/sandwiches), Bread Bazaar (a sandwich shop where you can purchase any type of bread from around the world), Pizzeria Locale (a pizza place that offers traditional Italian cuisine), Goodman's General Store (& adjacent gas station) & COFFEE HOUSE CLAYTON(a popular TCBY location). It should also be noted that there are several art galleries located within close proximity to each other including MASSARTIST STUDIO(whose artist include well known painters like Rob Eickhoff & Jay Lynch), PEARL GARDEN(whose artists include singer Sarah McLachlan) & THE KITCHEN OF AMERICA(whose members include chefs like Bobby Flay and Ravi Singh). Clayton is home to five coffee roasters, three of which are small businesses. The first coffee shop in the city was opened in 1906 by J.P. Morgan and his partners, also named Clayton. The business grew rapidly and by 1928 had relocated to a larger location on State Street. In 1951, the company moved again, this time to its current location on Euclid Avenue. The industry has experienced significant growth over the years in Clayton, with several new roasters opening up in the city during the 1990s and 2000s. Today, there are six coffee businesses located in Clayton alone, making it one of the most active coffee markets in Ohio.
Clayton, Ohio is a small town located in the state of Ohio. The population was 3,471 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clayton was first settled by Americans in 1810. It was named after General James Hennepin who led an American brigade during the War of 1812. After the war, General Hennepin's family left to start their own farm in what is now Clayton and they were the first people to live there. For many years, Clayton functioned as a stop on the Underground Railroad for escaped slaves. In 1865, when Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in Washington D.C., Clayton became one of several leading Ulysses S. Grant hamlets along with Vandalia and Richlandtown to take up arms against Confederate forces under General Robert Ewing Sherman. On November 8th, 1883, Clayton celebrated its centennial anniversary and voted to become an incorporated village. The community experienced some economic hardships during World War II due to shortages of food items such as flour and gasoline but has bounced back since then thanks to strong agricultural practices and entrepreneurship by its residents."

Clayton, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Lucas County. The population was 19,711 at the 2010 census. It is the fifth-largest city in Ohio and one of its six surrounding counties. Clayton is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a total population of 3 million people. The site for what is now Clayton was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s as part of the Muskingum Valley area. The town was named after Colonel John Clayton, an officer with General Washington's army during the American Revolution who Purchase land from British officials at an auction in 1794. In 1815, when much of central Ohio became part of Indiana, Claytonsville became part of Indiana County; it remained an independent municipality until 1896 when it merged with Lucas County to become one municipality again. In 1819, William Tecumseh Sherman founded Toledo on a small piece of land east of present-day Euclid Avenue in downtown Toledo and began plans for annexation by Claytonsville; this annexation never occurred because Toledo chose not to incorporation into Claytonsville until later that year under pressure from other towns within Lucas County that wanted to join their neighbor. In 1825, while living in New York City with his family, President Tyler appointed him commissioner to manage Indian Affairs in western Michigan Territory; he arrived in Clayton on February 12th and held public hearings on March 15th to consider claims made by various settlers for land within what would eventually become Clayton Township (later called Muskingum Township). On May 2nd, 1825 Congressman Adam Chandler wrote House Speaker John Boehner asking him to name him chairman or memberof Subcommittee on Indian Affairs due to Tyler's recent appointment but no response was received until October 9th when Boehner sent a letter indicating he had no intention continuing his service should such an assignment be given vacant position subsequent to Tyler's death on November 5th. Clayton was founded in 1792 by a group of Ohio pioneers. The town became known for its pottery and other handicrafts. In 1814, the town was renamed Springfield after President James K. Polk, who had been elected that year. It returned to Clayton in 1872.
