Circleville is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. The area that would become Circleville was first settled by people from Pennsylvania in 1795. The first post office was founded in 1814 and named for Captain John Cook, an American Revolutionary War officer who had explored the Ohio Country. In 1824, Circleville became a village and added a land grant from Governor John Quincy Adams to its citizens. In 1827, it passed a charter giving it city status. The Panic of 1893 caused some local businesses to fail and led to the closure of many businesses in Circleville during that year's recession. However,circleville's economy recovered after World War I when new Manufacturing jobs began to be created in nearby Hamilton Township and Dayton County. From 1925 until the early 1990s, Circleville enjoyed one of the most active downtown areas in central Ohio due to its numerous small shops and restaurants which attracted residents and tourists alike with their unique atmosphere; however over time this has diminished as more chain stores have opened up within walking distance of much larger malls across town- making Circleville less attractive for tourists than other smaller towns around similar populations

Circleville is a small community in the Miami-Dade County, Florida area. The population was 5,839 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The town's name comes from the Circleville Creek which flows through it and provides drinking water for many residents and businesses. The creek was named after General John A. Circleville who fought in the American Revolution against George Washington. General Circleville also helped to establish what is now Miami-Dade County as one of Florida's counties. In 1825, Captain James Kapp founded a trading post on the site of present-dayCircleville which became known as Kapp's Landing because of its location close to several Native American villages that had been abandoned by their inhabitants during Indian removal campaigns led by Andrew Jackson. By 1830, Kapp had relocated his business to what is now downtownMiami and renamed it "Circleville". In 1837, Isaac Perkins purchased land within town limits and established a cotton gin, flour mill, blacksmith shop and other businesses including an hotel/motel called "The White House" that remains extant today.circlevillians are credited with inventing air conditioning in 1913 In 1840 Josephine Caldwell moved from Ohio to join her husband John Caldwell in starting a cotton plantation about three miles outside of town on an isolated piece of property known today as Caldwell Plantation Road (now US 95). With only cloth production taking place in this early period there were no local mills or factories to support the demand for goods produced by locals or exported abroad; therefore much of Circleville’s economic development took place outside of town until well into World War II when industry began anew with growth in transportation facilities such as auto plants

It grew rapidly due to natural resources such as coal and iron ore and became a major center of industry in the region.
