Chillicothe, Ohio is a city in the United States of America. The population was 23,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Champaign County. Chillicothe was founded on October 15, 1811 by General James Wilkinson and was named after the French city of Chillon. The first permanent settler in Chillicothe was John Alexander Chalmers who arrived in 1814. Other early settlers included Andrew McKnight and David Webber. In 1825, Reverend Ziegler bought 640 acres (250 hectares) of land east of the town and began to build a log cabin which he called "Middle Center." He soon realized that his new community would need more than just a small schoolhouse to function as a center for trade and commerce; he also envisioned creating an agricultural society that could provide necessary goods and services to its citizens. In 1835, Reverend Ziegler sold his land to Daniel Boone for $5 per acre. This purchase signaled the beginning of what would become one of Chillicothe's most successful businesses: marketing and exporting farm products such as corn, beans, wheat, potatoes, eggs, butter and other dairy products from Chillicothe to neighboring townships and counties in central Illinois Territory. By 1840-41 alone, Daniel Boone had exported more than two million dollars worth of goods from Chillicothe! This success led to even more development by Reverend Ziegler; in 1840-41 he built a store on Main Street which became one of the largest in central Illinois Territory! Thetown started growing rapidly due to this investment; by 1850 it had over 10 stores (including several post offices), three banks (one with $10 million in assets), six churches (four Methodist/Anglican and two Baptist/Methodist), four hotels (four bed & breakfasts/three restaurants - all serving frontier cuisine) as well as an educational institution - The University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - which opened its doors on September 12th, 1851! Chillicothe quickly became known throughout central Illinois Territory for its quality food products and friendly people; it remains one of the leading cities today for economic development!

Chillicothe is a town in Hancock County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Chillicothe was founded by General James K. Polk in 1836 as a small settlement on the Scioto River that became Chillicothe Junction after the two towns combined to form the new county of Hancock in 1839. The name "Chillicothe" is derived from Chilicothe Township, Blair County, Indiana which was named for Colonel John Chilton (1768-1832), an American Revolutionary War veteran and congressman from what is now Delaware County, Ohio. The first school in Chillicothe opened on May 10, 1837 with 11 students and was operated by subscription. In 1840, when the Scioto Valley Railroad was built through central Ohio it became necessary to have a depot near the town so passengers could get their goods delivered directly to their homes rather than going via Gallipolis or other stops along the way. This depot served as the nucleus of what would become downtown Chillicothe until 1907 when it burned down and all traces of it were destroyed except for one block long panel erected atrium which still stands today as part of downtown's core commercial district
