The Ohio National Guard has been in Centerville, Ohio since 1912. The unit was first organized as the 3rd Regiment of Cavalry on December 14th, 1912. The regiment served in World War I and the Spanish-American War. In 1940, the 3rd Regiment of Cavalry was redesignated as the 1st Battalion, Cleveland National Guard. In 1942, the battalion became part of the 5th Brigade of the Ohio Division of United States Army (USAAF) stationed at Camp Kilmer in Cleveland County. On January 8th, 1945, 1st Battalion Cleveland National Guard were transferred to Fort Knox military base in Kentucky and were reorganized as a brigade headquarters battalion under command of 2nd Infantry Division Headquarters Group located at Fort Knox Barracks. Upon its arrival at Fort Knox they were redesignated again as 1st Battalion Cincinnati National Guard and remained there until it was mobilized for service in Korea on May 25th 1951. On January 12th 1951 2nd Infantry Division Headquarters Group activated 1st Battalion Cincinnati National Guardsmen from various posts across central Kentucky to serve with UPI forces engaged in Operation gutsy 52 which aimed to support South Korean defensive lines against an impending northward offensive by Kim Jong Il’s North Koreans. The battalion arrived at Pusan Perimeter on February 9th and began duty within days conducting infantry patrols along with artillery support during standoffs between US Forces and North Korean forces near Sinuije waterfalls while also providing security for UPI supply convoys moving through that area. After several weeks of hard fighting along what is now known as “Bloody Ridge” where members of 1/1C died or went missing including future Medal Of Honor winner John Allen Brown one battalion commander reported back that “the only thing left to do is pull out because it is no longer feasible to hold this position” On April 15th 1951 after almost 6 months Deployment components relieved units from their positions around Pusan Perimeter following successful completion of communist Offensive called nilambe which targeted both Seoul and PusanPerimeter American defenders had failed miserably throughout entire campaign shown by high casualty rates for both American Soldiers and Koreans alike Withdrawal from perimeter allowed communist insurgents free rein within heavily fortified city which ultimately led to its destruction 1/1C remain deployed until withdrawn from war on September 30TH 1952
Centerville is a small town in the Delaware Valley of Ohio. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Springfield–Muncie, OH Combined Statistical Area. Centerville was founded in 1811 by men from what is now Erie County, Pennsylvania and it became a village in 1815. Centerville won its first election to incorporate as a town on July 10, 1825. The first post office opened in 1827 and remained open until 1914. The centennial of Centerville's incorporation as a town was celebrated on June 17, 2011 with a public event including an economic development forum and parade through the streets of Centerville Village Square. The festivities included music by the Centerville Band and refreshments from local businesses such as Cider Workshops & Spirits, Hometown Buffet & Tavern, Mrs Pizza Place, Tim Hortons., Burger King., Dunkin' Donuts., Moochie's Pancakes & More., ExxonMobil gas station (now known as Speedway gasoline), and several other local businesses which participated in making Centerville one of the most active places for small-town life during that year. "Centerville: A Pioneer Town" written by Jerry Wolkoff tells howcentervillage formed around wagon trade routes connecting Erie County with Kentucky via Ohiopyle Creek; early settlers were farmers who grew corn and wheat; successively more manufacturing began to relocate to Centerville during the late 19th century due to increased transportation availability; many new businesses have been established since 2000 when Interstate 640 slowed down travel southward through Centerville; today much of downtown activity revolves around arts/entertainment venues such as recording studios/theatre or cafes/bars."

Centerville, Ohio is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 584 at the 2010 census. On July 10, 1802, Centerville became the first incorporated village in Stark County. The village site was located on the east side of the Scioto River. It was named for Nicholas Centerville who had come from Connecticut to help start a new landowning society in that area. The first school in Centerville was built on what is now David Lane and operated as a one-room schoolhouse until 1816 when a two-story frame building erected by John Witherspoon and others became the first public school in Centerville. A subscription library opened in 1827 and soon became an important part of community life. In 1830, trustees organized a fire department which still exists today as one of the most efficient and professional volunteer organizations within Stark County. In 1839, George Hines purchased 3 acres (1 km 2 ) along with lots adjoining to form what would become Centerville square. This parcel served as homebase for Hines’s business enterprises which included millsinery, hat manufacture and wagon manufacturing throughout much of the 19th century; he also developed an extensive farm system which continues to this day. One notable event during this time period took place when Hines donated $5 000 (equivalent to $ current prices) towards construction of Franklin D Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum located adjacent to his former home on Park Avenue in Centerville Square – thus making it possible for every resident ofCenterville to enjoy free access to this national treasure from their own front porch! During World War II many residents raised money through bake sales or car wash days while they enlisted or served overseas; however all efforts were fruitless because war interrupted normal activities not just locally but nationally too! When word arrived back about surrender ceremonies being held at Negley Air Force Base near Dayton OH some citizens decided it would be appropriate give back their confiscated property so they could live freely once again! They pooled their resources and began cleaning up properties prior to store closing later that night local newspapers reported: "Nearly 1000 cars were hauled away yesterday with owner's permission...the Government has been very lax about taking possession" After almost two years no progress had been made so on November 7th1945 local agents finally arrested 25 residents resulting in public outcry culminating with Mayor James Phelan giving notice that planned prosecutions would begin any day now if no action was taken! Some people even suggested boycotting local businesses until restitution goals were met? Unfortunately these types of protests often lead nowhere more than intended due changes within government policies over time have rendered such demands impossible even though individuals may remain vocal about wanting them achieved/not achieving... centerville’s rich history makes it an interesting study case for research purposes but sadly its unique story does not fit neatly into any preconceived notions about American history!!
Centerville was founded in 1792 as a small trading post on the Scioto River. The town grew rapidly and by 1810, Centerville had a population of over 500 people. In 1814, Centerville became the capital of Ohio and it remained so for many years. In 1818, Centerville was renamed Dayton after President James K. Polk's visit to the area. In 1903, Dayton was merged with Columbus to form the present day Ohio State Capital city of Columbus.
