The regiment was soon deployed to fight in the War of 1812 and fought at the Battle of Lake Erie. After the war, the 1st Regiment was disbanded and its members transferred to other units. However, in 1830, a new regiment was organized in Centerville and called the 3rd Regiment of Dragoons. This regiment served until 1851 when it was disbanded again. In 1861, Centerville decided to become an independent city and adopted a new Constitution which granted each citizen one vote in City Council elections. The first mayor of Centerville was George Wescott who served from 1861-1862. In 1862, John Fenton became mayor and he would serve until 1865 when he resigned due to illness. During Fenton’s term as mayor, Centerville hosted various military events such as the Perry Expedition which saw American troops invade Canada; also during his tenure there were several fires that destroyed many homes in Centerville. In 1875, General Ulysses S Grant moved his headquarters from Springfield, Illinois to Fort Donelson where he waited for Confederate General Robert E Lee’s army after their battle at Chancellorsville on April 9th,. After weeks of waiting around 100 miles away from Fort Donelson General Grant ordered his men into action on April 14th by ordering them “to march with all possible expedition against that stockade” despite heavy artillery fire being directed towards them by Confederate Colonel John Bufordprogressing directly towards them without warning their commanders who had no choice but to open fire on what they thought were friendly soldiers only wounding one man before retreating under heavy fire back towards Fort Donelson under orders not to pursue anymore

Centerville is a community in the town of Centerville, Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1806 by John Fenton and his wife Betsy. The community has a population of about 2,500 people as of 2010. The first settler in Centerville was John Fenton and his wife Betsy. They arrived from Pennsylvania in 1806 and started a small farm south of Centerville on the Scioto River. In 1810, they bought land east of Centerville from Simon Callender. That same year, they built the first school in Centerville. In 1814, the Fentons hired Andrew Jackson to build a road through their property to connect Cincinnati with Pittsburgh. The road was known as the Miami Road because it passed through central Ohio near Miami Lakes. When it opened in 1817, Centerville had become an important stop on the route between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), Centerville became an important Confederate stronghold because it was located along the roads connecting Cincinnati with Richmond and Petersburg Peninsula respectively. In 1865, when Union General Ulysses S Grant threatened to move all military forces into central Ohio to take effect during the war's closing months, John Fenton surrendered Centerville to Grant without giving any warning to his family or friends within town. Most residents chose not to leave; however, some menaced by Grant's possible attack decided to leave for fear that they would be taken prisoner if they didn't surrender quickly. Centerville continued functioning until 1970 when it merged with nearby townships for local government purposes under what is now called "Ohio Communities Consolidated Act." Centerville, Ohio is a small town located in Athens County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,823 at the 2010 census. Centerville is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The town began as a log cabin settlement founded by the Reverend John Sisson and his wife Betsy in 1824. The first post office was established in1825, and Centerville became a village in 1828. It became a town in 1839 and a city in 1912. Centerville's history dates back to when settlers arrived on the Scioto River Valley during the early 1800s. Some of these pioneers were farmers who set up homes around what is now Centerville Lake. Others came for trade or military service during the War of 1812. When that conflict ended, many farmers returned home and started anew with new land nearby on which they built their homes and businesses. In 1830, Centerville residents voted to incorporate as a village under the name "Centerville." This vote followed similar decisions made by other villages throughout Athens County at that time. The incorporation caused some contention because it meant that Centerville would have its own government separate from those of surrounding townships and counties - an arrangement that did not always work out well for either party involved (the Village government frequently clashed with county government). After some debate, however, Centerville reverted to its original name after Incorporation Day on July 12th of that year - an event attended by local officials and residents alike to commemorate the occasion. Despite this wrangle over governance, Centerville grew quickly into one of Athens County's most important communities due to its location midway between Cincinnati and Dayton on two major transportation corridors-the Scioto River Road and Route 25/US 24/SR 527/I-270/. This isolation also helped contribute to its strong civic spirit which nurtured public schools; volunteer fire departments; churches; libraries; sports teams;and more than 30 grocery stores during those early days! During World War II much activity took place withinCenterville borders: manufacturing munitions at Canton Works near West Springfield (now Middletown), agriculture at Alleghany Downs near North Palestine (now Lebanon), housing for war workers at Goodyear Rubber Company plant northeast of town (now Richland Hills), transportation through centerville via former US 24/SR 527 trackage south of town (currently being used as part of I-270) – all while thousands patriotic Americans poured into our tiny community from all over America to fight! In fact, one 2002 study estimated that 10%of all sales within centerville occurred within 15 minutes' drive or less! Today there are only few traces remaining from those days when so much took place here: One can still walk across SR 527 where once there was continuous traffic both ways making stops at various mills along way; look down upon Centerville Lake where people would swim every day before getting ready for work or going shopping etc.; visit Alleghany Downs Farms where you can see old tobacco barns dating back to 1840s... everything shows how different life was then compared nowadays but somehow it just works well
