From 1821-1827 there were no units activated for service in Ohio because Governor John Atherton vetoed all bills authorizing such organizations without specific Congressional notification; however, this did not mean that there were not any active duty or honorary guardsmen from that time period living or serving in our great city… On July 5th, 1934 Cavalry Regiment 1st Battalion (The Black Horse) reactivated at Celina Army Depot with Headquarters Company located at Lima Road Post Office #1 near Columbus Road Armory In 1935, units from across America participated in World War II as part of Patton's Third Army by joining up with other stateside troops under General George Smedley Butler as Task Force 61st Infantry Division within I Corps headquarters commanded by Lieutenant General Omar Bradley while stationed at Camp Forrest outside Nashville TN As part of Operation Market Garden they fought along side British forces throughout Holland and Belgium before finally relief operations arrived including crossings over Rhine River on October 20th 1944 after days fighting through heavy German artillery fire
