Since the beginning of World War II, Celina, Ohio has been a military battleground. The town has seen battles between the United States and Russia, as well as between the United States and China. In recent years, Celina's role in the war has come to be known as "the battle for Celina." The town is home to one of the largest Army Reserve battalions in Ohio, and also hosts a large NATO event each year.
Celina is a small town located in Mahoning County, Ohio. It has a population of about 2,300 and is the only village in the county. The area that Celina covers was once part of the Northwest Territory of Ohio. The first white settlers to arrive in what is now Celina were two families from Delaware who came in 1814. The community was named after Captain Celina, an American Revolutionary War veteran who had been captured by British forces and then freed and returned home to America. The first store opened in 1824 and the first school was built in 1827. By 1830, there were six stores, eleven schools, three churches, one post office and twelve wells available for irrigation. Cotton growing became an important industry soon after the arrival of slaves to work on the farms around Celina. In 1830-31, nineteen men went into business with Jno Hennepin & Co., including seven farmers who raised cotton as well as purchasing goods needed for their crop production such as ginned cottonseed oil and saltpeter. Two years later they merged with another company, Hennepin & Willcox Bros., which increased production by sixty-five percent while also expanding marketing operations to include both local retailers (such as Mr. Ellis’ grocery) and eastern wholesale merchants such as Ghent Brothers & Sons at 4th Street and State Route 11 (later known as US 421). When Produce Merchant James Selvin died suddenly at age seventy-one in 1865 his son John Selvin took over his father’s business but quickly found himself hampered by economic problems brought on by Union army occupation during the Civil War period; he closed up shop many times between 1865-1868 due to lack of buyers or money to keep it open when demand decreased because prices for foodstuffs rose along with slavery abolitionist efforts throughout much of Northern America.* On November 5th 1870 John Selvin reopened his store on Elmira Road after closing down at least four times during Reconstruction* His successor continued operations until 1906 when he sold out to Wm Ayer & Sons – one of several businesses destroyed by fire that year caused largely by defective storage drums used for fuel at various downtown locations.* In 1909 Copley Electric Company established a power line from this location across Tuscarora Creek* All these businesses left their mark on Celina through memories handed down through family members or stories told aloud over coffee or dinner conversations: “There wasn’t anything we couldn’t do back then if we wanted it done right: We could go out there buy something we didn’t have before*, build it ourselves*, change things around*. Celina is a town in Celina Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,654 at the 2010 census. The area now comprising Celina was organized as a town on September 3, 1837. It was named for Elizabeth Celina, wife of John Celina and mother of James K. Celina. The first building in what is now Celina was built by David Gentry in 1837. Gentry ran a store in the little town until his death in 1849. His son-in-law Nicholas Whetstone bought the store after Gentry's death and continued to run it until his own death in 1861. In 1865, Samuel Pate laid out the present-day block of land which included most of what is now Celina and built two churches there: First Presbyterian Church (now Stroudsburg Baptist Temple) and Second Presbyterian Church (now Congregationalist church). He also added a schoolhouse and other buildings to the original plat. Pate died suddenly while working on these additions and not long after they were finished he died as well from an illness contracted during construction, leaving behind unfinished projects that were never completed.[1] In 1868–69 George Haggerty erected a sawmill on the river just north of wherepresent day Hershey Road meets State Route 362 east of town limits; this mill represented one of the early successful efforts by Haggerty to start serious industry in rural Butler County[2]. This mill continued operations until 1902 when it was replaced by an equipment plant operated by United States Steel Corporation located near Wooster;[3] however small scale production at this plant remained insignificant through most of its life.[4] After World War II both mills became used for storage,[5][6][7] but finally closed down due to lack of demand from local businesses during the economic downturn that followed their closure (−2000).[8] In recent years much attention has been given to restoring both mills as historical artifacts with plans for them to be reopened for commercial use again sometime around 2020 or 2030[9][10].

In 1828, two brothers founded the first commercial establishment in Celina – a store called The Wagon Wheel which became one of the most popular destinations for people coming from out of town to buy goods from local farmers. After years of growth and success, The Wagon Wheel closed its doors in 1860 due to financial difficulties. However, another business venture started by the brothers – The Hennepin Mills – continued trading until it went bankrupt in 1875; however, this story is not as well known today as other businesses that have grown up around Celina over time such as Google Street View imagery or locally made products being exported nationally (such as cheese). During World War II, celinas served as training sites for American soldiers fighting overseas on various fronts including Europe and Asia; many facilities still remain open today including Camp Jupiter which housed 1st Battalion 35th Infantry Regiment during their primary combat theater operations across all theaters of war while also training future infantry units throughout America’s peacetime military structure After World War II ended, much discussion took place about how best to manage postwar redevelopment efforts within areas such as rural white flight that had been suburbanized during wartime D-Day landings followed by massive influxes of African Americans into formerly all-white towns like Cleveland Heights following new civil rights laws stirring concern about “reverse integration” (the process by which communities were gradually opened up to non-white residents) Across Ohio however few community newspapers were published with typical citizens more likely communicating through favorites like radio programs since phone service was spotty at best . Despite these challenges most small towns throughout America experienced economic stabilization with population growth rates remaining high through late 1960s thru early 1970s when disco music began blasting out radios everywhere along with social changes among youth giving way to increasing joblessness and crime
